Hay there, i have to say im pretty happy with the patch changes makes the game new again thus new fun. Only one request tho!
Since the game is literally HUGE at the moment in every aspect, Could we get some more search boxes around the game! I mean the search box on pet battle system is amazing! why dont we have one on achievements for example that are ENDLESS! or abilities for example. Spell books have gone through big changes and sometimes i wonder if i miss a spell or something and i open my spell book to make sure and then i say...ohhh i have to go through it again. I hope you know what i mean haha=p |

We certainly agree that better navigation through systems makes for a better player experience. Searching and filtering are key tools for this.
There are a finite number of things we can do, and we have to prioritize. It’s always easier to add these tools into new systems, or when re-writing an old system. The spellbook was an unusual case. As you mentioned, it has gone through some extensive changes, but the underlying UI code was not changed. This caused the development team to not be able to do some of the things they would have liked without completely re-writing the spellbook UI. We do have a plan for overhauling the spellbook UI and getting in some of the features people have asked for: filtering by active/passive and search. Currently it’s not a high priority. |

Yes please! I like the searchbox for achievements idea especially.
Also PLEASE make a searchbox in the mount tab or sorting by type like there is with pets. The tiny scrollbar is quite annoying when you're dealing with over a hundred mounts. |
We certainly agree that better navigation through systems makes for a better player experience. Searching and filtering are key tools for this. I think you guys are relying on player made addons too much. There's addon for everything, really, including achievement searching. Hell, even achievement faking. But as you said it yourself, there's only so much you can do on ANTIQUATED engines and programming software. Why not UPDATE or replace them? It's going on 10 years, really... |

Shameless plug, but you might want to try Niggles (http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/niggles). It does a lot of other things in addition but it adds search boxes to the Merchant, Mount and Guild Roster panels. The Merchant's Panel search is only on the name unfortunately, rather than looking for things such as stats, and it uses the Blizzard gray-out method used in the bags, but at least it helps. The Mount search is very similar to the Pets search system, although it doesn't have 'Source'. The Guild Roster search allows you to search on Name, Class, Zone etc. All 3 search systems are integrated as much as possible into the current UI, so no new panels etc.
Niggles also adds a list with a search box to the Flights panel, to make it easier to find the right destination. Clicking on the right one on the map can be tricky, especially in Eastern Kingdoms. While doing some old Wrath dungeon achievements a couple of days ago I was wanting a search capability in the Achievements panel. I will have a look at how feasable this would be within the standard UI. The spellbook is a little trickier. |

We certainly agree that better navigation through systems makes for a better player experience. Searching and filtering are key tools for this. This. I'm not a tech heavy person but I don't see what would be so hard about adding something that addons are currently already doing I mean, can't you just basically copy and paste into the game and have it as a standard thing that comes with the game? All this 're-writing the spellbook UI code will take too long' stuff comes across to me as bull!@#$ (pardon my French) if addons are capable of doing it easy enough. I still request an ingame 'recount' from Blizz rather than the addon 1) The addon looks out of place in my UI, just ugly. I too prefer the overall design of the WoW interface and need a recount that doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. 2) Newbies won't know about addons and stuff for a while after they start (unless a friend tells them) 3) It's something that should be in the game as standard anyway in my opinion. |
