This is one of the reasons that Blizzard should at least consider making skinning possible on unlooted mobs (maybe after a set time has passed to avoid ninjaing of another skinner's kills) and maybe even opening up loot on a mob after the killer has moved out of range - the usual 100 yards horizon would be useful for this. I'm hard pressed to think of a reasonable situation where you would walk that far from a corpse you intend to loot.

You must have either really small bags or carry around a whole load of unnecessary baggage to only have 10 slots free! |

Reminds me .. how about the option to opt out on looting? Everyone can set themselves to pass on loot. Thing is then you will also pass on boss drops, but you will get your normal share of any gold looted. I do this when I go with more then one character to a dungeon (one on follow with guildies or self-boost). The items that drops are tradeable for 2 hours if BoP - just like normal. And yes, I also like to loot. I get stressed if I can't find the time to do it because the group/tank runs too fast. <3 SellJunk - and the greys do make me a very good chunk of gold. |

The dungeon finder reward is so high, that slowing down for looting doesn't seem optimal. I usually get 2-3 items in my backpack after a dungeon run, and probably a few gold. But upon finish, I get 87 gold and plenty of JP/VP. And the JP for bosses. I enjoy looting, but strictly from efficiency point of view, it's bad. |

I always loot everything and I have a pet/mount that I can vendor stuff at. Plus the fact that all my bagspace is actually the largest available excluding the travellers backpack you cannot remove and which I put in the most important things in it: Hearthstone, fishing pole (Yes my fishing pole dammit), foodbuffs foods, flasks, potions followed by gear, a pellet rifle, cake, mana gem and dead alliance corpses. All of that excluding the corpses only take the travellers backpack and three quarters of my second bag so its not a real issue for me =3

Yes, you DO save time, not looting corpses - its a balance act. Not Looting -> makes you able to do more quests and runs (less now that we have AoE) Looting -> makes you more gold, and the occasion rare or epic(Here people nearly all above have not had the time to even mention it - BUT looting an important recipe like e.g. a JC meta gem recipe - that one alone could get 6000g on my server - I have seen people not loot (like e.g. the spiders of tol barad - and moving too far to even get the loot window and I got it instead) While Not Looting, back in the old days, with no AoE loot - it really was more of a balancing act, as looting took forever of large groups - here, i remember being able to do Baron Rivendare runs in about half the time when not looting (and when you took longer than 12 minutes effectively reducing the amount of runs to less than 5 / hour, that was a major waste in getting the mount quick - on the other hand, when you had the gear to be able to loot AND clear in less than 12 minutes, you quickly stacked up on items - think i earned like 10000-20000g doing baron runs alone from selling junk and green's and blue's de'ed and made into enchanting scrolls (+4 chest and +15 agi on hands were good) there is really a world of gold to be made of junk and trash from mobs - just get going ;-) On a side note, I do have bag-space problems, with full 26 bags in all slots --- but that's because I have old gear from since the beginning of vanilla - like full tier 1,2,3(7/9) and many items to accompany them, many old fun quest items (Diary of Doctor Weavil, Carrot on a stick, many many many more), some {t4,t5,t6}, full t7/7.5, some {t8,t9,9.5, t10,t11, t12, t13} --- SUGGESTION --- please make a separate Clothing Cabinet (for both old items and tabards) besides the Void storage - then I doubt i would have bag space problems with 11x26 + 16 (total for bags and bank space at end of cata - and when this is mentioned, its BoP items im talking about - I have loads of guild banks etc) |

This, I believe GW2 and Rift both have this nice little feature, nothing game breaking but nice to have none the less. When on my 85s I sometimes do and sometimes don't pick up junk, just depends. However when leveling or on a toon which isn't on my main server I always do :p |
|
truthfully, i haven't looted a single mob since i dinged my first toon to 70 or so (not counting farming skins or quest items). that's when i realized i couldn't be arsed looting all those mobs for some tiny scraps.

get better bags seriously..i carry 3 sets of armour at all times, tank, dips and pvp and STILL have back pack and 2 x 22 slot bags empty always. papas new bag, papas brand new bag - first boss in FoS (icc instance) bag from os10 or 25 forget which tattered hexcloth (no idea? quest reward) not like i had to spend thousands to get them theyre just drops on topic, i always loot everything and sell it...ALWAYS |
|
I hate to leave any "tresures" behind (and because of this I don't like tanks chainpulling groups too fast for me to collect stuff). Now when 5.0.4 made my pet 50yd AoE looterang I pick everything I can. Items in my bags are well organised - chance to sell useful item is low, and I have an addon that automatically sells all grey items with message how much I gained. The numbers can be surprising sometimes. And greens (or even better) BoE items can make nice profit, especially at the beginning of expansion as enchanters will need things to disenchant.
|
^ I never have bag space problems. I wonder what all you people are putting in your bags... Autoloot on, AoE loot and off I go! Loot everything = profit. |
|

I never delete anything in any game that is worth money, I just think it's a stupid idea.

As a healer this has always bugged me. In dungeons I virtually never get to loot mobs because if I don't keep up with the insanely-fast tank then he will most likely die while I'm a few dozen feet back looting junk. |
Everyone can set themselves to pass on loot. Thing is then you will also pass on boss drops, but you will get your normal share of any gold looted. Nono, not pass on loot, but pass on looting. I d love that kind of option, heck, even make it a "Let everyone loot my mobs" or "Let party player 1,2,3 or 4 loot my mobs" option. That way, tank and healer can rush as much as they want, while one guy can pick up everything on the ground. While leaving the roll on greens, blues and purples as well as the shared gold as it is. "Lets see ... Mr.X has the lowest dps .. congratulations, you get to carry all the stuff". |
came here specifically for this. Was not disappointed |
|
For a second I thought the title was 'Old Man's Junk'. Almost fell off my chair.
|
|
I never leave corpses unlooted, as guaranteed the one I miss is the one that has a 50k epic item sitting on it, or a mount I never knew about, or a pet I didn't know I wanted yet.
AoE looting makes it so much easier, but have to admit, since playing a tank, the obvious stares you get for running back to where the casters are standing to loot a corpse thats shining is very uncomfortable. I don't care though, I takes whats mine! |
|
In my bags i have PVE gear for Holy/disc, PVE gear for Shadow, PVP gear for Disc and PVP gear for Shadow, my fishing gear, gems, flasks, food, enchanting mats, some random stuff to change my appearence 10 diferent trinkets for various uses and alliance and guild flags, in the middle of this i dont really have the space for random greys in there all i get from mobs is the gold really.

Wouldn't it be quicker and easier to make serious gold on the auction house by selling items peeps with huge amounts of gold would rarther buy than farm themselves
