OK, in the early days of wow, when the time had reached a certain hour, the whole world got darker. It was beautiful and spooky at the same time.
Since the other, OTHER thread has hit the posting limit, we'll just continue here.
To those who do not want the night back (and if you look through the threads, there are not all that many at all) we have a solution. A slider that controls how dark you want the night. The tech is already there and has been for years.
We've had a blue response to the thread.
Wow! Alright alright, we hear you. This seems almost like a unanimous opinion on this thread…

Also, below are the Tally results for the first EU thread.
Yes, but needs options / Unsure: 8 (2.03%)
YES! BRING BACK THE NIGHT!: 381 (96.9%)
Please bare in mind this was the EUs first thread (post capped).
"Patch 5.4 will have a test case for darker nights in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, and Vale of Eternal Blossoms."
Confirmed here: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/7860907601?page=8#155
It seems the test case for darker nights has been either scrapped, or the original statement was intended to mean that the "Weather Stones" obtainable on Timeless Isle was to be a test on new weather effects.
Blue responses in the thread here:
(reposted shamelessly since the last thread hit the limit.)

I hate leveling alts at night as it feels like a sunny day in the game, and blizzard has said they are going to improve the nights but not as dark as they used to be.
Which is sad I miss those very dark nights

I'd like to ask that people bring some kind of suggestion of their own, an agreement with suggestions in the OP or some other relevancy to the thread, rather than bumping. Two minds greater than one, as the saying goes.
Can't you just down the contrast of your screen thus creating night?, wouldn't that be the same as having a slider of how much "night" darkness you want?
Gamma settings darken the UI as well, though. The suggestion is to make a setting that allows for the in-game world to get darker, with lighting effects such as those from torches and lampposts being brighter and acting as beacons in the darkness. Things such as UI, NPC nametags and the like wouldn't be affected by this.
ive posted in both the other threads in support, and once again will support this.
rather than just a plus one, or thubs up, bump etc heres some more thought
in both those threads...different day/night cycles have been suggested, but messing with those ruins any net gains from having darkness in my opinion.
so, we keep the day/night cycles as they are (loosely following the *real world*) and have, as suggested, sliders which control the LEVEL of darkness.
i agree that for people who can only play at night, a constant night time cycle would be bad, to never see the true colours of some places would be ruinous....so they can keep the night bright!
having this control client side would also cut down on the amount of work needed server end, as they could just carry on as they are i guess.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but am playing Rift, and night time has fallen there and it is absolutley stunning..
Blizzard developers do have a way of borrowing from other games and settings. And there already were dark nights in the Vanilla installation of the game. And they've said they wanted to reimplement night features.
Just add a slider and we can make everyone happy. :(
As it is now, it does not feel like there is a night/day cycle in the game anymore, and it is truly ruining the immersion the game ones had. I support this 100%, give back the immersion and feel of nights.
Bring back the nights!
