Role of the Priest in 5 man PVE
|
I have always loved Dungeoneering. Even in the slower paced days of single realm LFG method. There was a real sense of ownership over your group when you put it together yourself. Perhaps with the new cross-realm style dungeon farming some of that sense of ownership has been lost, or become exclusive to Guild Runs. Which is still rich in lore-ish story telling potential, just less ad hoc than the old style... all in all, a good thing and healthy evolution in my opinion. Besides.... we're priests. You don't turn down a priest for a 5man. Right? The Question is why?

I think alot of priests are usually played by more mature players than other classes, not to judge! I mean, i haven't seen alot of priests doing bad, atleast not on my server. Maybe it is because younger people think of priests as boring? Idk.. thats just what i think, might not be true at all...

I know where you're coming from. I have this to add:
The reason why you don't see that many priests doing bad is because those who are don't last very long before they are ignored by everyone and/or get fed up with there own bad performance. But to be fair, its very hard to go wrong as a priest in a five man party. On the other hand with how well adapted priests are to work with 4 allies gives us the players a chance to idk, get creative with all the spells and abilities we have. You could say that part of being a 'good priest' is knowing what abilities your enemies (npcs) are packing when you dungeoneer. Ok knowing for PVP is easy... but in a Dungeon, there is a niche you don't see Priests master. Its not like we lack by comparison to other classes. I should say lacked because we did get a good tune up for Cataclysm imo. Just more fun to be had. Healers generally get a lot of downtime in dungeons, imo, Priests have more they can do with that downtime, making us a totally unique element in five mans, the sad part is other classes don't recognize it and whats worse some priests out there don't. Which is why those usually re-roll shammies or druids. |

That's about to be changed! Agree? |

We rule pretty much.
When i first played wow i was 15 so to me, the whole idea of "healing" as we were the main healing class back then with 2 healing specs, was a little dull. So maybe that's the deterrance? |

We're the swiss army knives of the healing classes and that's just super awesome. Need a dedicated tank healer? A Priest can do it. Need a raid healer? Hell, a Priest can do it like noone else. Plus, we have style. I have a 80 Holy Paladin and a 80 Resto Druid with whom I've raided quite a bit and I can tell you, I've always envied Priest because of their style and because, buffs and nerfs aside, they were always pictured as "THE" healers. :-)
