After returning to the game and having to start from scratch, I decided to roll a Paladin and get it to 90 in time to do some HH runs. Unfortunately, at 90 I've discovered I hate playing Paladins with a firey, firey passion and I've decided to re-roll and want a class as different from the Paladin as possible. So pure DPS, ranged, pet class it is.
The trouble is that I don't usually feel like I have a proper feel for classes until fairly late in the levelling process and I'd like something that I'm not going to hate by the time I get to Northrend. Going by my Paladin experience, it seems that classes may have changed quite a lot since I quit playing in Cata so, I wondered if anyone could advise me what one is the least likely to have that effect. To help you advise me, I'll give some info:
I like PVE almost exclusively - I enjoy questing, dailies and 5mans. I also plan to get back into raiding. When I'm not doing group stuff I really enjoy being able to solo stuff and being survivable. I generally only PvP when I'm forced into it by achievements or world events - but I do like to have at least the option of being able to go to the odd BG and not die horribly. within seconds. I never do Arena and have absolutely zero interest in starting. If I'm playing a pure class I'd like the specs to be sufficiently different from each other that if I get bored with one I can switch to another for a different playstyle - which I understand is a plus point in the Warlock column but I also really used to enjoy hunting down rare and difficult to tame beasts with my hunter on the US Realms. I would also rather play a fun class with an interesting rotation that had middle-of-the pack DPS than a topping the meters class which pushed two buttons.
Any advice would be appreciated...thanks in advance :)
I never liked warlock before reaching max level on it, being bored in a weekend, and now it ended up being my main, I can recommend it, lots of costumization from talents and glyphs, and the 3 speccs also offer 3 different playstyles.
Warlock works great for soloing and in groups, and you're never forced to play tank or healer.
All around a fun/good class to main
Warlock for pure PvE, but if you care about the little PvP you do when forced into it, then hunter. As a warlock in PvE setting, you will most likely get ganked. As a PvE hunter, you will have good chances against gankers. At least by my own experience.
Go warlock, if you get bored with one hunter spec you get bored with two other specs too. If you get tired of your pet, you can go to surv or mm but pet is still major part of your dps, as warlock you can sacrifice it, gain yourself more damage and it's even viable. Every warlock spec is viable and even it has it's faceroll spec, destruction.
