Haste vs. Crit as PvP sub
|
Hi,
Just wonder if i should reforge crit to haste on the PvP gear i run with. I have about 48% crit atm. Also whats the hit cap for PvP? i tried 5% but that seeme to result in a lot of missed stuff. Now im on 6% and my misses have reduced alot. Maby its just my imagination. Thx /T |

So far I have tested pvp wise, crit > haste for sub. Reason? Backstab.

With 45% crit I don't feel like backstab is a problem, so at 85 with lower crit chance but 30% extra crit chance on backstab I'll be going with haste.

Haste > Crit. Why?
1. Faster energy regen, 2. Faster bleed ticks, 3. Faster Recuperate ticks. Something might've changed though. I don't play much on my Rogue anymore. p.s.: Imo, Haste > Mastery > Agi > Crit. |

I disagree, to see an energy improvment you need a helload of haste (500+) else it does barely matter. (I judge from my combat spec --> 900 haste)
Being sub from before 4.0 patches, belive me. Every time you dont score a crit with backstba you cry. 45% crit with backstab is way too low for my criterias. Even now with 57% crit i'd love to be at least at 70%. |

Haste has pretty much the same impact (faster hits means more crits) just with slightly less on demand burst, but as Ambush is already crit capped on any decent gear I don't personally see the point and would sooner stack haste!
I never got the 'you have to notice it for it to matter' line of thought too, I don't notice the difference in 1% crit more than 1% haste or 1% resilience, but equally it's still there =P |

(I judge from my combat spec --> 900 haste) Nvm, you must be one of those many tons of rogues who incs me while i'm unstealthed, attempts to nuke me and fail drammatically, unable to take me down to 50% hp even, since no backstab crits. Vice Versa, I dont have many issues at all shredding rogues. Please do me a favor. Make every horde rogue gear like you full haste, at least you will be the horde handicap in BGs to allow alliance a victory here and there. |
What? Because he [and others] disagree with you, you flame him? GG. |

Alternatively, maybe you'll be the alliance handicap because you're using Crit rather than Haste? It's only opinions against opinions with no clear facts. You may -think- your decision is the best, but it isn't necessarily so. |

Haste doesn't affect DoT / HoT tick rate for us. (Hopefully that wasn't already picked up on) |

PvP, its crit untill your max out ambush hardcap (60% talent, 5% HaT) so after 35% crit you want to throw all crit rating into mastery or haste. Likely the first, because crit (1cp, HaT), ambush (1cp normal, 1cp talent) and premeditation (2cp) makes you go ambush-5cpfinisher-shadowdance-ambush(this or the next is again HaT cp)-ambush-5cpfinisher.
So your mastery will likely be far more beneficial then haste. |

I disagree, to see an energy improvment you need a helload of haste (500+) else it does barely matter. (I judge from my combat spec --> 900 haste) Ambush - 60 % increased crit, add in at least 40% crit on gear and you're already crit capped on Ambush, which is quite a lot of damage at the go, not to mention a near immediate Eviscerate increased by Sanguinary Veins (a fast hemo after Ambush to not only make the rogue unable to stealth, but prepare SV) and Coup de Grace. and the damage of said Hemo. Yeah, you're already at 50% if you had the resilience to take the damage. You're not going to bring him down to 0% from 100% without taking damage unless he's bad. Very, very, very bad. Truth be told, past 40% crit currently, crit isn't that big a damage increase since it already cap one of our most important burst abilities. At 85, Backstab will get a major crit booster as well since you can take more than 5 talents in Assassination, which will make crit even less valued compared to now. Haste isn't just increased melee swings, it's energy regeneration as well, not to mention increased rate of poison applications. You might think Crit is good, and while it's helpful, it's not superior to the other choices. At higher levels of haste, you'd easily be able to get a substantial energy regeneration to give you far better burst in terms of more backstabs to spam. That'll compensate a bit for the lessened crit chance. And who can't get over 500 haste if they want? Reforging should make that insanely easy if they wanted to. ;/ |
