Roleplay addons

Was thinking what a heck, lets make a Topic about good Roleplay addons.. that can help us find each other and so.

only addon i can tribut now is MRP

MyRolePlay is a roleplaying addon for World of Warcraft. It lets you make a roleplaying “profile” about your character that other users of MyRolePlay (and other compatible addons, where applicable) can see in the tooltip, and in a more detailed window.

* Spot other roleplayers at a glance, and get a quick overview of their character in the tooltip!
* Change your character’s name; add a last name—or whatever you wish!
* Mark your preferred style of roleplaying (casual, full–time, beginner…), or your status (in character, out of character, being a storyteller…)
* Exercise your creativity further—describe your character’s appearance! Eye colour, height, weight…
* Give people a taste of your character’s story, if you wish—add biographical information like their age, hometown, birthplace, and maybe even some tidbits of history to make people hungry to discover more by interacting with your character and roleplaying with you?

Aye MRP is good, there are others like it such as FlagRSP2, TotalRP and ImmersionRP.

I'd add Gryphonheart items to this thread too. It's an addon which allows you to create items/props or buffs, which other GHI users can see and use. These are purely UI based and don't affect the game world at all. You can make books, spells, buffs, items and bags for said items. You can then apply flavour text, item quality, spell effects, sound effects and emotes/speech. It's easy to grasp the basics, and has lots of complexity to it when it comes to making the best items as well, so it suits a lot of people.

A great thing about is that it's already very popular, and loads of people use it. In my opinion, it's an RP must have these days.

I use MyRoleplay and Tongues. MRP has been mentioned, but Tongues allows you to speak other languages and easily switch between them. So if a blood elf with the addon speaks Thalassian and you play a Forsaken that understands it, well then you can! Should be noted that his addon doesn't allow you to speak with the opposite faction despite having Common listed as a language your character speaks.

Too lazy to rewrite this, so posting from guild forums!

Roleplaying Flag AddOns

Flag AddOns

Flag AddOns give other people extra information about your character, and make it visually noticeable that you're a roleplayer. They may alter the normal tooltip, or add an extra one. They let you give yourself extra names before, and after your character name (i.e. titles, nicknames, and first / last names). They also let you add a description of your character, the content of which you can decide. All of these AddOns require the use of a custom channel slot to share information with other people (MyRoleplay requires 2!). For normal use, these AddOns will conflict if you have more than one running, so avoid downloading more than one at a time.

TotalRP

This is more of an AddOn Suite than just a Flag AddOn. The flag part consists of all the normal stuff - names, titles, physical description etc. It also has fields for alignment, mood, body type, and clothing. You can save up to 5 different character profiles per avatar. It has a nice registry for keeping track of other peoples' flags, and you can add your own notes, and relationship status to every one of them. It's fully compatible with other AddOns that use the channel communication method.

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info15540-TotalRP.html - Original French version

Version 2 is out soon in English, so not going on with this one now!

ImmersionRP

This has a lovely interface for starters. It gives you an extra friend list, has the option of asking you if you want to join the information sharing channel when you log in, displays other players' information in a separate frame to the tooltip, which doesn't automatically expand, unless you want it to. Also lets you add your own information to other peoples' tooltips which only you can see. It's currently between authors (the original author - our very own Seagale! - is catching up with the work of someone else who took up the project in his absence), and as such, is out of date.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info10273-ImmersionRPContinued.html

MyRoleplay

MyRoleplay is the second most advanced Flag AddOn out there. In addition to the regular name information, and character description, it lets you add a middle name, and an organisation you belong to. It also lets you add height and weight information, eye colour, and current mood. You can also save profiles, and customise the tooltip with various colours. The cost of all this extra information is an extra custom channel slot taken up. This information could also be added to the standard description box.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info4990-MyRolePlay.html

FlagRSP2

FlagRSP was the original Flag AddOn. It has since evolved into a new version: FlagRSP2. Aside from the normal Flag features, this will let you examine the information of any other user who is online, and part of your Faction through it's interface.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info9584-FlagRSP2.html

FlagRSP Cataclysm

This is another offshot of the original FlagRSP AddOn. It is thus very similar to FlagRSP2.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info9767-flagRSPCataclysm.html

MarySue

A fairly recent addition to the market, this AddOn dispenses with the custom channel requirement, and uses invisible whispers instead. This has the obvious advantage of not using up an extra channel slot, but comes with the hidden disadvantage that it doesn't work with the other Flag AddOns. The authors of the other flag AddOns are either working on compatibility, or will be in future. Hasn't been updated in a long time!

Chat AddOns

Tongues

Tongues is an AddOn that lets you speak in a number of different languages, including Eredar, Thalassian, Dark Iron, and even Cat. Anyone else using the AddOn will be able to understand what you say. It is compatible with Lore (not currently being updated).

Download it at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/tongues.aspx

Storyteller

Storyteller is an AddOn that lets you prepare large amounts of text, which can then be sent piece by piece at the click of a button.

Download it at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/storyteller.aspx.

Emo-tes

This AddOn adds extra emotes to your reportoire. It also fixes the apostrophes directly after names in custom emotes. They are listed on the download site. While it still works, it has been causing me login errors of late, and hasn't been updated in a while.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13103-TBEmo-tes.html

Roleplaying Helper 2

Roleplaying Helper 2 will make your character auto-respond to various events. Casting spells, death, checking your mail: all of it can be responded to with emotes, and speech.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info9721-RoleplayingHelper2.html

Bracket Blocker

Bracket Blocker is an unreleased AddOn that will prevent chat in double brackets from appearing in the chat window.

This isn't on any regular host as it's not finished, but I have it on my Mediafire account (http://www.mediafire.com/?c2vrtztuw1z) if you want it. It's not buggy, it's just lacking in functionality!

Item AddOns

TotalRP

Yes, it's this AddOn again. It offers item, and document creation. You can add effect to items, such as messages, sounds, and adding other items to your fake inventory. It's still being translated at the moment, so item creation can be tricky. Check the + buttons for help in English.

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info15540-TotalRPEnglishversion.html - English version
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info15540-TotalRP.html - Original French version

Again, version 2 is out soon, so don't bother with the download for now!

Gryphonheart Items

An AddOn that allowed you to create custom items, including books. These items are not equippable, or visible, and can only be used by others with the AddOn. Known to have conflicts with other AddOns.

Download it at http://www.pilus.info/ghi/

Outfitter

An AddOn that lets you save outfits, and switch between them in a few clicks. Like the Equipment Manager, but better!

Download it at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/outfitter.aspx

ItemRack

An alternative to Outfitter.

Download it at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/project-1186.aspx.

Bookworm

Allows you to save the text of in-game books you read for later browsing.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info4088-Bookworm.html#info

Quest AddOns

CommonersQuest
CommonersQuest allows players to give and receive quests from each other. It currently supports kill quests, item collection quests, pre-requisites, and item / money rewards.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info14012-CommonersQuestquestsfromplayersforplayers.html#info

Verisimilar
Verisimilar is an AddOn that allows players to create quests, and attribute them to NPCs, both real, and fictional. Other players with the AddOn can then connect to the creator's "session" and complete those quests. It currently supports kill quests, and goto quests, with additional support through its scripting interface. Apparently it's working! It now also supports item objectives with items you can create and even add to mobs as loot they can drop.

Download it at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info14735-Verisimilar.html#info

Miscellaneous AddOns

RP Button
Derived from ImmersionRP, this simply adds a button to hide most of your interface, leaving only the chat boxes.

I'd like to point out that Total RP has a few bugs, such as disabling shift-click on character names, and Tongues is still buggy under the recent patches. Until they're updated, I'd suggest avoiding them.

BattleCry was also good, but with a lack of continued support, I have shifted to SpeakinSpell.
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/speakinspell.aspx
Just remember the clear all command. Type "/ss eraseall" to erase all your data. This includes any defaults as well as any custom speeches you've written. The addon comes with a full suite of funny-but-not-always-character-appropriate emotes and statements.

Should also note the following post on the WoW Insider blog:

SpeakingSpell is great, I use it. It's a bit of a hassle to set up (used around 2 hours to set up my spells, and I haven't even done them all!), and can be a bit of a learning curve at first, but it's still of great use!
Nothing like getting a killing blow on an Alliance somewhere, and your character goes "Let the afterlife judge you!" or proc'ing Hot Streak in WG and seeing the emote /e surges with power as he prepares to fire off a massive pyroblast
Good stuff!

Aye, Tardon. Another nice use of SpeakinSpell, is having randomly chosen [from an appropriate list] /emotes for things such as mount "summoning." It means that having set up those emotes, I don't have to frantically type whilst mounting up [grins], and can still have my mounts not simply appear without explanation.

I also tie it in to rarely-used spells, with longer statements or emotes: Astral Recall, Ancestral Spirit, Fire Elemental Totem, Earth Elemental Totem. It allows me to add a bit of that "troll witch doctor" flavour to the character on occasion, without frantically typing under stress [leaving me time to think about the rest of his talking and emoting].

When setting it up, I kept the old lua files from BattleCry_Core, and just cut and pasted into my on-screen SpeakinSpell panel. Didn't take as long.

Also, it accidentally caused a party hitting the Elemental Invasion Fire Boss with me [three from Crushridge, one from another server, plus me] to all start roleplaying too [!], after my SpeakinSpell fired off on one spell cast. Was lovely!

Anyhow, enough bragging up this addon from me.

I will instead brag up Outfitter and the various Flag addons, and wish that someone would update BabelMurloc.

A relevant addition to this thread:

Based on a few requests, I made a small addon that makes it look like NPCs can talk/emote and gives you a couple of slash commands to make them do so easily. Everyone with the addon will see it just like the NPC were really saying/emoting it, for the others it looks like you're speaking/emoting with the NPC name in brackets (like some people do already).

Download here: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=21137

Hope this can be of use. :D

I use TRP2. It's by far most useful, and compatible with all other Mary Sue tendency using addons.
