Did you know that WoW includes a raid browser to assist with finding or forming groups? Don't worry, neither do most people. But it exists, and as we work towards revamping and expanding this feature for Warlords, we figured that we could also improve the usefulness of the existing functionality in the short-term.
If you click the "Other Raids" button in the social Raid tab, you'll see a list of raids. For 5.4.2, we've added two new categories, Mists of Pandaria Raid (Flex) and World Boss, which are specially enabled to function cross-realm. If you're looking to join a group for these activities, you can check off the appropriate fields and click "List My Name" below, and you'll put yourself into the LFG pool for those activities. For these specific activities, this pool will function cross-realm.
If you click over to the "Browse" tab on the right side of the screen, and select one of these activities from the drop-down list, you'll see a list of players across all servers who are looking to join groups for that activity.
Please give this a try on the PTR, and report any feedback or bugs you encounter. Thanks!
I hope you know the situation ''More players from specific realm in the group -> hops the realm to theirs''. This is usually the problem with world bosses, especially oondasta & galleon when you count on the spawn timers.
Please make sure that being listed in Raid Browser doesn't prevent you and your raid group from queuing to Flex Raids (it also blocks you from dungeon and LFR queues as well) like it does on Live realms today.
It may be worth to split Flex raids into 4 separate wings instead of single Siege of Orgrimmar (Flexible) option - implemented in build 17614.
Also, currently on PTR it only lists 2 world bosses (Celestials and Ordos). Please add all remaining world bosses to the list.
"List My Name" button does nothing if you select any world boss or flex and any 10/25 raid at same time.
Change 10v10 Rated Battleground (LFG id 358) level ranges from 85 to 90 so it actually appears in the list and make it work cross realm as well.
Please make this tool more visible, atm it's hard to even find it.
It may be worth allowing ppl to list yourself for old raids as well (classic, tbc, wotlk, cata), cross realm. Atm they are not even displayed due to being too low lvl.
You can also consider adding some features from addon below (like displaying ilvl in tooltip etc).
There's small addon that improves Raid Browser by adding some information to tooltip: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/lfradvanced

I just want to reiterate that this is in no way our final implementation of the "Group Finder" feature discussed at Blizzcon. That's coming in Warlords. This is a small scrap of convenience using our existing features that we could fit into 5.4.2, and while we have no expectation that this will completely satisfy players' desire for cross-server group-finding tools, we hope that it may help a bit in the meantime.

I am gonna be honest.. Ive tried the feature a few times and it never worked due to no one using it..
You already have the ''perfect'' modell of what that tool could be used for in OPENRaid..
Get the team to check it out, see how they did it, and use all the cleverminds you have there to find ways to improve it..
With the LFR feature here and openraid, nothing you ever make it into apart from an Openraid'ish thing will work, I promise you.
Either you find something that works, and improves it (openraid)
Or you remove it and come up with something totally new!
No PTR bug, but I encountered something odd with the current implemented system.
I wanted to report it, but I forgot doing so and now reading this I remember it.
I have read about the raid browser and I actually have never bothered using it on the dying realm, since there wasn't active pugging. I decided to look on it again now I was moved to another realm and enlisted me in the raid browser.
Meanwhile in trade chat I encountered a flex group I joined. But when the raid leader was trying to queue for the flex raid he got an error saying someone is already in a raid. Then I remembered I was enlisted in the raid browser and tried to unlist me. Odd enough it didn't allow to unlist me pressing the button. I then left the raid, unlisted me, and the group was finually able to queue for flex.
What I want to say unless this is fixed already you can't use the raid brower as it is currently to make Flex groups.
Шокохрюшка also mentioned the bug.
Please make sure that being listed in Raid Browser doesn't prevent you and your raid group from queuing to Flex Raids like it does on Live realms today.

yeah i know i just wanted to know if we can expect something completely new in terms of UI with the feature coming with WoD
You have this the wrong way around... the reason oQueue is so successful is that it has a raid organiser creating an advertisement, then the players apply to join if they can meet the organisers criteria.
Just having a 'I want to do something' list will continue to be completely ignored by the player base like the current one. The 5.4.2 version will have a wider list of people but does nothing to fix the reason its ignored in the first place, seems a little wasted effort to me.
How about, Less Grouping tools and more attunements to unlock games and turn WoW back around from a 'Theme Park'. No seriously, WoW is a theme park now and each raid is a ride with a prize.
Alot of people complain about PvE content since after Ulduar. Heroic mode raids was definately on the horizon at that point, but that should only raise the level requirement. Not the skill requirement like Sartharion 3 drakes up (10 and 25 man versions). I loved that encounter cause it was chaotic. None of the raids nowadays do this. All raids encounters in the past two expansions run like a script, so planned and predictable, where as in Ulduar and Obsidian Sanctum, it was entirely, thinking on your feet styled and it made games so much fulfilling.
Keep Heroic and Mythic Mode, but add less linear encounters and less script reading encounters.
would you be able to make it so people could still complete normal quest while in a raid group as many people join pugs but still want to be able to finish off daily quests and they sometimes take a while to fill so your stuck hanging around for ages doing nothing
Blizzard suddenly decided to document some Raid Browser API's in recent PTR build (17614), such as:
(even though I had most of it documented for a years, only bossKills, gearRating and defenseRating fields were wrong).
There's seems to be no API's to set values for requestedLeader, requestedTank, requestedHealer, requestedDamage, needTank, needHealer, needDamage returned by GetLFGInfoServer.

Wanted to try but for all SoO Flex and Normal it say you do not meet requirements to join this raid.
I done all Flex and my ilv is more than high enough for them so I wonder what requirements I have to meet to be able to join que?
Hard to test stuff if it is not properly working...
And in my opinion it is still in wrong place where most of people will not find it.
It should be under same menu as LFD, LFR ans Scenarios search and than MUCH more people would use it.
As somebody said - for any kind of pugging (be it PUG in Trade channel or using OpenRaid/oQueue) raid leaders are asking for iLv so it should be displayed.

How about adding "Custom" invisible category that works cross realm to raid browser so that addons can use it for other types of content (rbg, scenarios etc)?
Also it would be nice if API return flexBossKills and heroicBossKills in addition to bossKills (normal) or even on per boss per difficulty basis.
Equipped item level is also missing (only max ilvl available).
Also some additional stats would be nice, like mastery, rangedAP, pvp power, pvp resilience, spirit, intellect, str, stamina.

I havn't checked this feature on the PTR, but I have seen it in game since WotLK when it was introduced, and have some UI feedback to give on it as to the reason why it never caught on.
Accessibility: It wasn't that easy to find where it was hiding in the UI, I think in WotLK it could be accessed by /lfr. And most people would just trade channel instead as nobody would be looking in the Raid Browser. To fix this, it needs to be more visible, it needs its own tab somewhere, maybe under Dungeon Finder where you can queue for everything else.
Clunkiness: This one is hard to explain, but it's hard to view who's up for what at certain times. For Example: Try going through and browsing how many people are listed under each raid. You'll notice how repetitive and annoying clicking a small button for a giant dropdown list is!
Also I hope you change the icons in it! I remember them from WotLK! The "Choose Raid" button looks like an Emblem of Frost if I remember correctly.
I'm looking at this from Live by the way, but I saw a screenshot and am assuming you havn't made many much needed UI changes to it.
However, I always think you guys are missing something out.
Things like OpenRaid are popular because you can just type into a chat channel and get tons of requests for invites - a giant chat channel!
Why do you think in WotLK, trade channel was the god of LFM for pugs? The same reason, you find people by talking through a chat channel full of people!
Surely there is another easy solution to this ;)
Trade channel has more disadvantages than this tool. You can't do anything while looking for raid, you have to sit in city and spam trade channel for a chance to get invite. This tool allows you to list yourself and then do stuff you usually do, like dailies, pvp, bg's, farm rares on isle or anything else you like. I don't understand why ppl prefer to spam trade channel instead... This makes no sense.

Raid Browser seems to be bugged on live. Only displays players from Russian realms for me. Should be able to see all players from all EU realms...
Also Raid Browser still blocking you from queuing to other types of activity like LFR, Dungeons, Scenarios ("You entered too many dungeon queues error"). Please fix this.

X-realm raid browser Vs oQueue:
X-realm raid browser is still limited by the language (or possibly even battle group). This immensely diminishes the player pool it can draw from.
oQueue, as buggy as sometimes it is, is still vastly superior as it draws players from the entire EU realms; russians, italians, french, germans, spaniards in addition to just english.
I seriously hope that Blizzard will consider the option to drop the language and battlegroup limitations that the current X-realm browsers use. Only then will I consider dropping oQueue.
