Quick question about Cataclysm
|
Hello everyone, i have just reactivated my account after a looong time with 7 free days from Blizzard.
I logged on this char and did a quick SM monastery run today. Everyone was around lvl 38 and decently geared. I thought it would be a fun run. But right after we entered the tank immediately pulls a group and starts to chain pull packs and packs of mobs. This continued till the very end. In the Chapel room where Mograine is we proceeded whitout any caution. Just mindless zerging. There was a point when the tank had like 10 mobs on him and barely dropped below 50%. When we started the fight with Mograine he was dead in 15 sec. Same with the priestess. Where is the fun in that? There was no thinking involved, no conversation, absolutely nothing. I could have just auto attacked and we would still made it. The mobs have 3600 health and i crit for 700. I know that the heroics and dungeons in Cataclysm are supposed to be harder than the ones in Wotlk, but here is my question: Will Cataclysm have some sort of *balance* tweaks for the classic dungeons aswell? I am just wondering if it is planned or not and if anybody could enlighten me on this matter. |

Some of them are changing level requirements, like Scholomance in Western Plaguelands will be a 35-40ish dungeon I think. Many dungeons are also getting trimmed down to be faster, like Sunken Temple and Wailing caverns. If they are getting harder? I doubt it.

Shame really, i was considering coming back for Cata but after todays run i somehow doubt its worth it. :( |

Well, apparently the Old zones instances are getting harder
Cant confirm that, so dont flame please Anyway, SM Cath? Yeah, that one is very easy, For example... Scarlet wizards are capable of soloing the whole of the inside of the chapel. Fire shield and spammable AE FTW! The only thing remotely difficult I tried in the whole of the levels I have done is try to take Maraudon pristine waters at 39, The bottom of the purple range. We failed... But yeah, If old world instances DO get harder, then it might be quite enjoyable |

People use the dungeons for easy xp and loot, making them harder (like the used to be) will not be of interest to anyone. Yes they are a mindless zerg fest BUT the pros are they give good xp and a bag of mostly usable loot.
If they where as hard as the used to be then not many would do them (esp healers). |

But atleast you had to think about what you were doing. For me its not about fast exp or loot but about fun. If you see fun in todays instances than good for you, but i dont find 10 min zergfests fun. |

If they where as hard as the used to be then not many would do them (esp healers). But then, thats the reason Quests were put in the game Dungeons were meant to be a 5-man challenge, and not the prime 15-80 levelling method. If they make them harder, then I think it would get people back to quests. Like the XP nerf from DF from 70-80 (which I am hit by :( ) EDIT: quoting for clarification |

Yeah this is the sad state of events in the 1-60 game. Basically low level characters are doing massively op damage and healing compared to the mobs they're killing. I guess blizzard thinks it's fun to just completely faceroll stuff for those levels. Then we wonder why people can't play when new players are subjected to this for the majority of the leveling experience and then find it hard at 85.
Right now damage from low levels is just insanely high, especially if in heirlooms. I tested some 1-20 on a few chars on beta with heirlooms and you basically 1 shot every mob until you get 20+ after that you 2 shot until 30+ .... It's pretty boring really. Fast but boring. Really the HP of mobs from 1-60 could do with being doubled or trippled. Also their damage is pathetic. I remember at level 15 on a mage i had around 500 hp and hit mobs with a fireball (2.5 sec cast) for around 180. Mobs have around 150 hp and hit you back in melee for like 7 damage per hit. Basically it's impossible to find any kind of challenge at these levels. It's a shame too because the new quest zones are super fun in terms of lore and fun quests, but the difficulty of the mobs just lets it down bigtime, totally under tuned. And before you say, yes people have been spamming about this on the beta forum for ages and blizz has done nothing. |

One crit and they are already at 50% life :( |

Actually levelling 1 to 60 on my new rogue alt was ten times more interesting than Outlands and Northrend imo. I think its because you move from zone to zone so quickly you never get bored from question in one zone.

Fast but Boring.....maybe true , but 1 -80 is a looong ride. I for one do not want to kill 20 x critters for 80 levels. I am a fan of the LFG tool for -80`s, I am a fan of it being /faceroll becuase basically non of it matters (imo). Getting to lvl 80 (85) as fast as possible is all that matters to me. I am a 5+year player and seeen it all before.

I dont play this game to have a bunch of lvl 80 chars and then sit with them in Dalaran waiting for the next raid but to have fun and IMO it would be waaay more fun if you actually had to think about what you are doing. |

For example Thousand needles is freaking EPIC, and stonetalon is by far the best zone in the game right now. However, it is just such a let down that instances and etc are far too easy. You really feel like godmode in the 1-60 areas, which is only fun for a short period. |

The whole quest progression has been completely redone from 1-58, it's actually really really fun. And it's just such a shame that it has to be let down by retardedly easy instances and general joke level of mobs. |
