The Lightsworn Order of Menethil
We, the valiant knights of the Golden Chalice, are an Order devoted to the protection and defense of our people and homelands. The Lightsworn are based in Menethil Keep, located in the port town of Menethil Harbour, to the far north of Stormwind City. Though knightly orders are originally a predominantly human concept (and the majority of the Order is made up by those), the different people of the Alliance have gathered under our banners, guided by the holy Light and walking under Elune's blessing. Our members have taught each other well of our different cultures and racial diversities, and strive to make our lands a safer place through the strength of unity and purpose. Wherever our banners fly, and our horns resound, the hearts of our allies shall be rekindled with newfound courage and strength. Our enemies shall scatter and flee before our righteous wrath, as they will know their vanquishment is at hand. Bearers of Light need fear no darkness, and we shall bear the torch to purify and burn away the shadow that encroaches upon our lands. The Litany of the Golden Chalice Praise the Light for its guidance enduring and everlasting It shall guide our hand and strengthen our spirit as we walk in its blessing forever We are the Order of the Golden Chalice surrounded by darkness and strife We shall seek out the taint which poisons our lands and hunt down and vanquish the vilest of evils When our horn does resound its bright clarion call it fills us with courage and strength Our banners fly proudly from Menethil Keep and none shall stand before us It is we who are avowed to stand vigil over the battlements of our sacred homelands For we are the Lightsworn Order and no darkness shall break through our watch Our brothers and sisters are fearless a beacon of Hope and resolve We shall strike down the darkness that threatens our homes and our people shall rally as one Unbroken we stand as a bastion of hope and never shall we falter The Light shall protect and enarmour our souls, as we stand guard over those of our allies Though shadows and filth do surround us no darkness shall enter our hearts No dishonour shall blemish our deeds and no pride shall sully our thoughts The Light is our weapon, our faith is our shield we wield it with greatest resolve With blade and with hammer and spell we shall fight and our faith in the Light shall protect us When all flee in despair and the absence of hope unbowed and unbroken the Order shall stand Fear is a concept unknown to our knights great courage we draw from the Light When the Light demands justice, to cleanse the impure ours is the blade that descends When unspeakable filth dares to strike at our lands Ours is the hand that shall parry the blade Our brothers and sisters ride proud into battle never to bow in defeat Our victory shall be unquestionable For we are the chosen of Light The heraldry of the Lightsworn Order: A deep red field represents the fire in our hearts, our determination to guard our people against the invaders that threaten our homelands every single day. It symbolizes the blood of the enemy, mingled with the blood of the innocent. May it remind us forever that we must end this age of terrible strife. A crown of leaves stands for the natural beauty of our homelands, which we are forsworn to protect against the fiends who poison the soil with their very presence; golden in colour, to honour the Light that shines upon these very leaves, bringing them to full fruition and bloom. Our crest of the golden chalice symbolizes our bond to one and another, all equal in the face of the Light that guides us, regardless of heritage or right of birth. Brother to brother, sister to sister, the Order shall stand out as a beacon of hope and resolve in these times of darkness and war: stalwart and indomitable, without trepidation or doubt. |

The Code of Ennoblement:
Prowess: To seek excellence in all endeavors expected of a knight, martial and otherwise, seeking strength to be used in the service of justice, rather than in personal aggrandisement. Justice: Seek always the path of 'right', unencumbered by bias or personal interest. Recognize that the sword of justice can be a terrible thing to wield, and must at all times be tempered by mercy and compassion. If the 'right' you see rings agrees with others, and you seek it out without bending to the temptation for expediency, then you will earn renown beyond measure. Loyalty: Be known for unwavering commitment to the people and ideals you choose to live by. There are many places where compromise is expected; loyalty is not amongst them. Defense: The ideal knight is sworn by oath to defend his liege lord and those who depended upon him. Seek always to defend your nation, your family, and those to whom you believe worthy of loyalty. Courage: Being a knight often means choosing the more difficult path, the personally expensive one. Be prepared to make personal sacrifices in service of the precepts and people you value. At the same time, a knight should seek wisdom to see that stupidity and courage walk hand in hand. Courage also means taking the side of truth in all matters, rather than seeking the expedient lie. Seek the truth whenever possible, but remember to temper justice with mercy, or the pure truth can bring terrible grief. Faith: A knight must have faith in his beliefs, for faith roots him and gives hope against the despair that failings create. Humility: Value first the contributions of others; do not boast of your own accomplishments, let others do this for you. Tell the deeds of others before your own, according them the renown rightfully earned through virtuous deeds. In this way the office of knighthood is well done and glorified, helping not only the gentle spoken of but also all who call themselves knights. Largesse: Be generous in so far as your resources allow; largesse used in this way counters gluttony. It also makes the path of mercy easier to discern when a difficult decision of justice is required. Nobility: Seek great stature of character by holding to the virtues and duties of a knight, realizing that though the ideals cannot be reached, the quality of striving towards them ennobles the spirit, growing the character from dust towards the heavens. Nobility also has the tendency to influence others, offering a compelling example of what can be done in the service of righteousness. Franchise: Seek to emulate everything I have spoken of as sincerely as possible, not for the reason of personal gain but because it is right. Do not restrict your exploration to a small world, but seek to infuse every aspect of your life with these qualities. Should you succeed in even a tiny measure then you shall be well remembered for your quality and virtue. The OOC part and various semi-mandatory waffle: We were formed in february/march 2008. We are a roleplaying guild and also try to maintain a great and varied community of players. We do roleplay of course, but also (heroic) dungeons, leveling, fashion collecting, horde smiting, the occasional raid, and what not. Oh well, every guild says that, so hey, there it is - the point I try to make is that one would not excude the other :-) Death knights are forbidden to join, blasphemous unholy fiends. Warlocks are very restricted, and are mostly only allowed as a "roleplay class". Say a mage variant, for example. Worgen will be allowed, though also very restricted at the start. I mean, you are both a traitor Gilnean, and a vile beast! It will probably take us a roleplay event with our night elves, to change the general attitude from very restricted to just restricted! We have a Lightsworn armour set for each armour class, gloriously matching with each other. Not required to wear all the time, though highly encouraged when rp-ing together. We do not have a level requirement, but the set is level 30-somethingish. We have no attendance requirements, but we prefer people that play more often then 1 day every half a year :-P As with everyone, sometimes people are up for RP, and sometimes we just want to kill things and waffle in our ooc channel, as the majority of us is either working or at uni. Our guild channel is IC, and we have a custom made channel for OOC waffle. We don't "officially" explain the IC channel with silly buzzboxes, it's just in character for the fun of it, and requires you to suspend your disbelief a bit :-p |

We are kind of never actively recruiting, but also never not recruiting. Therefore, if you are patient, and like what you see, give it a shot!
Be advised, as we can be slow in recruiting, and require a written application on our forum, a week or so wait time and an in-character interview after that, if you seem nice to us. We do not only want to have a group of nice roleplayers together, but also like to make sure that people fit in in an OOC way, without chance at petty internet drama. While drama is without question highly amusing, we prefer it not in our guild! Those last things are in fact more important to us then knowing if Sir Gavinrad the Dire was the 3rd of the 4th Paladin to be inducted into the Silver Hand. If you frequently annoy other people about how to play, or "your character would not know icly oocly icly oocly blablabla" , then the moat is that way. Beware of dragons. Seeing all this, le gasp, are the Lightsworn really a roleplay guild? Yep we are a 100%, though you will just not find us at the Blue Recluse getting drunk with the deathknights 24/7. As far as large realm events go, our feats of arms include the Blasted War, the Silithus Wars, the Outland Restoration Projects, the Scourge Invasion, Isiliosis events on Alliance, and a million more. Also, the Lightsworn Order was appointed as the honour guard for the return of the "false king" to Stormwind, which was done on the Sha'tar to mimick a storyline as seen in the comics (I believe) as a prelude to the WotlK release. Spolier warning: Cataclysm info: As Menethil Keep will be destroyed during the Cataclysm, the Lightsworn Order will move to Theramore Keep. We hope to be of help to the Theramore roleplay crew and the Giddy Widow, to ensure that port city is a much frequented roleplay spot for the enjoyment of many players :-) We are currently in the midst of a week long epic pre-cata campaign against the Twilight Hammer, which will "most likely" find the Order returning to a destroyed Menethil - the drama! Please note that during this time, we will not be able to recruit: though reviewed applications will be interviewed when safely arrived at Theramore :-) |

Grand to see that Lightsworn are still going strong, and have plenty of plans for roleplay in Cataclysm! No doubt we'll cross swords during the new expansion!

i don't doubt that Grem. Especially with how the Southern Barrens looks :3

It's nice that you guys have provided us with a backdoor for Theramore too.
Thanks, mates. |
|
|
Let the sound of galloping hooves on pristine stone be the last thing you hear before we ride you through, orc beast. For your countless atrocities and misdeeds against my people, the Light unending shall crush you like the wretches you are, and bring an end to this orcish taint upon our world.
On another note: That back door totally wasn't us! I mean, it's all nice of them to offer such a grand welcome for us and such, but I mean, come oooon, Menethil is the other way! *mumble* Blonde wizard girl, couldn't tell left from right. *mumble mumble* :-P |

Starting tomorrow, the Lightsworn Order of Menethil And Theramore shall be taking on new initiates once more. If you already made an application during our recent closed recruitment period, one of our officers shall poke you. And of course, if you are of valiant heart and steadfast faith, feel free to apply at our site, http://www.lightsworn.ugu.pl.
If accepted, you shall receive a summons to the Knight's Hall at Theramore Keep, as indeed we have moved to Theramore after the dramatic destruction of Menethil. We still keep Menethil in our name though, as hey, who doesn't like long winded pompous names? :-P |

I hear these guys are pretty cool, eh. They vanquish their enemies, and dont afraid of anything.
On a serious note, I've RPed with these guys on a couple of occasions, and every time has been a blast. Much <3 to them. |

It's good to see that you continue to lead Lightsworn in these new times, especially when I see that a lot of GM's have sold themselves to 'new raiding guilds' that spring like mushrooms after the rain and die within a few weeks.
For keeping faith and staying loyal to the cause, you will have my eternal respect, brother. |

I'm pretty sure that during a scrap on the Twilight Shore with a few hapless Alliance mobs, I caught sight of you, Gaebriel! But then, a second later, I couldn't spot you again. No doubt you had fled from the mighty Desmond Hodges, probably scared you'd be soundly beaten and then cannibalised!
Whatever the reason, it would have been for a nice battle! Oh well! Good luck in your future endeavours, Lightsworn! You guys are SUPREMO |
|
|
Haha, thanks for the nice comments :-)
I don't think it was me that you saw Hodges, as yesterday I was in the Twilight Highlands for the first time this new year - I have not played much during the holiday period :-P A shame though, as when I was there leveling Gaeb, the first few quests immediately inspired me to return to my old ways of leveling with pvp on :-D In any case, let it be known that a bearer of Light does not cower from the shadow like a half hearted knave. Let the blasphemous corruption that has taken a hold of your flesh be expunged from this world by the Light's majesty. Let the virtue of Compassion shine within me as I shall end your existence of pain and suffering and return your misbegotten soul to the Light's embrace. Next time, Gadget, next time! |
