Edit: If you claim that professions are different because they aren't manditory, surely that's just another reason to why mages should charge for portals? Anyone can gain max level in a profession, not anyone can make portals; because they aren't mages.

question to OP:
what exactly is the difference between charging a fee on a portal, and on an enchant/cut/whatever ?

personally i dont charge more than 2-5g, but please do tell me the difference?

Difference is enormous, Enchanting/cut/whatever are professions while portals are something you learn on your way to maximum level. You do not need to farm/buy a certain recipe for a portal nor do you need to grind big amounts of green items to level your "portaling" skill.

Your logic is flawed to the point it makes me sad.

and if you even try mentioning time and that time = money, here is something else for you to think about:

You charge for your Portals today, a Priest will charge for their Resurrection tomorrow, a Warlock will charge for their Summoning Stone and a Warrior will charge for their Tanking services. Would that be a good thing?

edit: I was enchanting people's gear while giving out Free Portals. Never asked for a tip for that either but people kept on giving me random sums, be it 5 gold or 15 g....It was THEIR choice to reward me!

Also, why so serious Ed? Its just a game, dont act like this is serious business charging ppl for gold just for something that will cost you 3 sec and 16 s. Irl greediness destroyed the economy!!
You can ask them to provide the rune and not a fortune for something so simple.

its not the cost and nor the TIME it takes to make the damn portal...its just become so darn anoying every 5 mins someone needs a portal. To compensate that 1% I ask a small fee in return. Or even worse... portal plz!!1

hell I'm giving that person a portal..I'd rather send/him her to the wrong place instead.
