Hi there.

I currently have a desktop PC with an Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4200+ Processor (2.2-GHz, 2x512K L2 cache, 2000-MHz FSB), 3GB RAM and a Radeon 5450 graphics card. I am getting pretty good WoW performance (my graphic settings within WoW are set to 'Good' and I am getting a consistent 30fps).

However, I'd like to look at upgrading the performance if possible.

Upgading the processor would be fairly difficult but I could upgrade the graphics card without much difficulty.

I have been looking at a Radeon 5670 1GB (which I could accomodate in my current desktop with little effort) and am wondering if this would allow me to increase my WoW graphics settings considerabley beyond my current 5450 or is my processor more likely to be the limiting factor?

Thanks for any advice.
Hi,

Putting a fast graphic card with an older CPU will bottleneck any performance that card may offer your system, WOW is not so much a graphic intense game but a CPU one.

You would probably be able to push some settings but your CPU will ultimately hold back performance.

what mr.Blue here is trying to say is that upgrading this pc would b a major waste of money.
(the low boost in performance would definately not be worth it)
go get urself a new pc instead, it will be both a cheaper and easier way to get performance boost.

but be selective when choosing parts, the most expencive aint always the best.. (rarely is.)
