You do have to admit that dwarves using magic is a little strange in terms of high fantasy in general. Dwarves are pretty far from a magic wielding race in the Lord of the Rings, and that book kinda started everything. Warhammer also springs to mind as Dwarves in that universe hate magic with a passion.

Even in German lore, they're described as highly magical creatures. |

I meant in modern High Fantasy, in terms of say, past 60-70 years.

In fantasy, anything is possible;
A writter named R.A.Salvatore actually came up with a dwarf druid (dudu)... Pikel Boldershoulder. While his brother Ivan is a warrior in all ways, Pikel chose to "talk to trees"... Just saying :) |

IF beer was the only thing one drunk then he would get dehydrated and die, by the way, for the same reasons you can't drink saltwater.

Should they use alcohol level instead of mana?
Looks the same, infact is the same, apart your screen is more blurred when its at full. |
|
Mana =/= Lore.
There is no such a thing like "mana" in lore.. there is just mental exhaustion. And TBH any race is able to some mental effort. Drinking is just form of refreshing .. doesnt matter if its water/milk/alkohol/juice. Mana is just mechanical representation. |

|
Well, even if the post was short it made a little sense, but lorewise there is a very small chance that mana actually exists, it is just a well-proven game concept.

Actually if anything is WTF? Then it is the gnomes!

Different fantasies have different settings. This ain't Warhammer, as mentioned earlier.
