Hey, I have a Lock, I pvp with it, I`m not the best in the world at looking after my poor pet. The problem I`m having is in mass PvP I often lose sight of him. Are there any addons out there that could put a raid marker or similar above his head?

Replace # with a number:
1 - for star icon
2 - circle
3 - diamond
4 - triangle
5 - moon
6 - square
7 - cross
8 - skull
0 - clear icon

I don't know if you can set raid icons in a BG, though.

Sadly raid markers aren't "personal". They're for your entire raid (and can only be set by raidleaders and assistants). I'm not sure about the BG think either, save that a non-leader can't set them.

As far as personal-space ways of making your pet stand out go, you might have some luck with a nameplate addon (assuming you use nameplates). Otherwise, you're out of luck as it would require model editing, which is a bannable offense.
