been away for a while and sorting out my addons the question is once i have sorted out everything for one char's addons and layout etc is there a way i can copy all the setup to my alts so the layout and settings are all the same?

In the WTF Folder, find your character that you want to copy the settings of and copy that folder.

Paste it in the same location and rename it to you character you wish to have your settings copied to.

Yes, every addon has a feature called "Profiles". It's a file saved by every addon containing the settings for that addon for that profile. An addon can have multiple profiles so that you can make completly diffrend UI's for the same chars or for diffrend chars.
So in your case simply look for each addon on witch profile you've saved the settings on (mostly called "default") then when you log into a new char, simply go to the settings of that addon, go to the profiles section and choose the profile you wish to get the settings from (like "default" for example.
It is advised to choose a unique profile for your char first then use the "copy settings from" option to copy the settings to this new profile.
You could also use an addon called "Reflux". It can manage all the diffrend profiles from your diffrend addons and make setup for new char's easyer.

Cheers guys :) i'll take a look at "relux" will the wtf folder copy work or can that cause problems errors etc?

I've never encountered any errors. I have to use that method as I run 2 accounts and so the profiles set up on addons on one account aren't visible for the other.


Edit: Just to ease any worries, you can delete your entire WTF folder and the game will work just fine.

Yes the method Pendreag gave you is ALOT easier and I suggest using that one ;). The method I've posted is more for advanced UI builders who especially want to create addon packs for others to download. But feel free to try it out ofc, it will help you understand how addons work ;)

fairplay i'll take a look at reflux so like you say will give me a better understanding of how they work (if it sinks in lol) but i'll try the WTF folder way :P
