From an early age the call of the wild draws some adventurers from the comfort of their homes into the unforgiving primal world outside. Those who endure become hunters. Masters of their environment, they are able to slip like ghosts through the trees and lay traps in the paths of their enemies.

These expert marksmen drop foes dead in their tracks with flawless shots from a bow or rifle. With the ability to wield two weapons simultaneously, hunters can unleash a flurry of blows against anyone unfortunate enough to stumble into close combat with them.

The art of survival is central to the isolated life of a hunter. Hunters track beasts with ease and enhance their own abilities by attuning themselves to the feral aspects of various creatures. Hunters are known for the lifelong bonds they form with animals of the wild, training great hawks, cats, bears, and many other beasts to fight alongside them.

Hunter Information

Hunters battle their foes at a distance, commanding their pets to attack while they nock their arrows and fire their guns. Though their missile weapons are extremely effective, hunters are at a disadvantage when their foes close in, and often attempt to evade or restrain enemies so that they can continue fighting from a safe distance.

Pets

Hunters tame the beasts of the wild, and those beasts serve in return by assaulting their enemies and shielding them from harm.

Ranged damage

Whether wielding bows, guns, or crossbows, hunters are deadly with ranged weapons. They are capable of dishing out consistently high damage.

Traps

Hunters are consummate survivalists, able to set traps to burn, freeze, and disable potential prey.

Soloing

Thanks to their pets and damage output, hunters are effective at completing quests and leveling quickly, even when they’re alone.

Hey guys,
Any hunters on the beta wanna answer a couple of questions for me? I was just wondering about certain abilities that they might be getting rid of? For example, is the Lock and Load proc gone for survival Hunters and Serpent Spread? And also Improved Serpent Sting?
If someone could answer these questions as soon as possible it would be much appreciated! Thanks.

@Lugaroeh: Depends:)MM is more "pew pew",while Sv uses traps and Dots..Either way, they are balanced in that all specs do approximately the same dps("balanced"cannot be said for their pvp.Ouch.)Its' just what you like most, but I'd go for MM lvling.(Only uses 4 moves:target, hunters mark, aimed shot, loot.)

@Antalagon: it kinda depends how you wanna play as a hunter, its the same with all other classes in the game... Some peopel is better on MM, some better on SV. Same with mages, warriors, rogues, druids, paladins, shamans and so on.

@Denus: After they got their focus, huntards become an endangered species.Every hunter I've seen is quite good from that time(with some exceptions, but it only adds flavor to low-lvl pugs). Also,i hope "newbies" mean noobs, silly people, and not those who are new, because then you would have no idea of a class named paladin.

@Pharanix: NO NO NO.DON'T ever say that. You think Blizzard would be stupid enough to add a MELLEE class with 2-3 moves, and a whole armory of ranged attacks that serve no purpose?Meleeing with a hunter was a reason they were named huntards. They can still equip mellee weapons(with agility),but just for stats, like a caster's wand.
