This is the call of the paladin: to protect the weak, to bring justice to the unjust, and to vanquish evil from the darkest corners of the world. These holy warriors are equipped with plate armor so they can confront the toughest of foes, and the blessing of the Light allows them to heal wounds and, in some cases, even restore life to the dead.

Ready to serve, paladins can defend their allies with sword and shield, or they can wield massive two-handed weapons against their enemies. The Light grants paladins additional power against the undead and demons, ensuring that these profane beings corrupt the world no longer.

Paladins are not only zealots, but also guardians of the righteous, and they bestow blessings on those the Light would shine upon. The Light radiates from paladins, and worthy allies who stand near them are emboldened by its power.

Whether with massive shields or crushing two-handed weapons, Paladins are able to keep claws and swords from their weaker fellows – or they use healing magic to ensure that they remain on their feet.

@Swiftrogue: Well, what do you wanna be?
For damage dealing you should go for retribution.
For tanking; Protection
I you wanna do some healing, go for the holy tree.

Tho, for questing retribution would be optimal.

@Holymoose : Ret is certainly not weak in pvp. I play it as my main spec, and in most bg's I can %%*! whole groups with just 1 healer. It's true we need to stack HP before we can crit, but imo it regens fast enough to do decent damage. And I haven't even talked about ret's survivabillity, pretty impressive. Well, I for one, like to play it.
(crits aren't everything)

Hey guys i just think that people choose Ret Paladins BECAUSE THEY LIKE EM'!! I mean, i chose Paladin out of all the other classes cause it's a Powerful Tank that has Mana based Abilities too, that is able to stay up with the help of auras and deal a lot of damage! And for the Ret Tree it's just more POWER you know what i MEAN??!!!

And for all those pally fans out there, here's some info on blood knights ;)

The Blood Knights are an elite group of blood elf paladins serving as Silvermoon's equivalent of the Knights of the Silver Hand. As high elves, many were members of the Church of Light. Many later became priests and a few became paladins. After the Third War, the majority of high elves became blood elves, and soon the race began to lose its light given powers. Thus they needed to find a new way to access the Light. They did this by sapping Light energy from the captive naaru M'uru held beneath the Blood Knight headquarters. In a mad lust for power, Kael'thas Sunstrider sent the felblood to attack Silvermoon City and seize M'uru for his own personal uses. The Blood Knights are now pledged to aid A'dal and the Shattered Sun Offensive in defeating Kil'jaeden.

can tell you this if u gonna play pvp as paladin. forget about ret, it *@#@ing blows! (sry) dont even know why the ret tree is there, could aswell just eben holy/prot.. while other classes can score a crit around 15-20k rather ofetn, we need to w8 for 3 HP wich can take up to 12 sec to get if ur unlucky and then use 1 attack. but yet again we need to keep inquisiton (dont know cerrect spelling) up to rly do some decent dmg. only every 2 min we can be comperd to other classes with AV when we can use HW. so for pvp i hardly recommend Holy. QQ ftw later!

@Holymoose: cow talking about "us", using word "we" etc. who do you mean by that? cattle? and by that 3 HP u mean hit-points as a critter, right? cos i ve seen a lot of cows in Elwynn for example. Wondering how those cows learned to write/speak/read. Ok, lets get to the point. U re using the bug blizz made? Playin tauren pala, u cant be serious.

@Farnham: i could accept it only if the name of the class was Sunwalker, not paladin. Im too much into the lore to accept this. Aswell as for human hunters and dwarf shamys so u dont think i want advantages just for allys

Now we have holy cows as well *rofl* The ground around the Thunder Bluff will now be covered in holy sh*t (that was lame I know). Although it is kind of nice that there are now 2 Horde races that can be paladins. Alliance always had at least 2 (3 with TBC), which is unfair. I love playing pally, they rule in Northrend against the undead. Too bad they are being nerfed all the time; like DKs have been nerfed ever since WOTLK was released :/
