Cataclysm
Patch 4.0: Overview10/10/2010
Without warning, the corrupted Dragon Aspect, Deathwing, erupts from the stone heart of Deepholm, the domain of earth within the Elemental Plane. Jagged fissures are torn across the earth, and monstrous waves pummel coastal regions. From Thousand Needles to the Blasted Lands, the surface of Azeroth is reforged through violent upheavals. Now, the Horde and the Alliance must defend their homes against Deathwing and his minions, burdened by the unsettling fact that the world as they know it has changed… forever.
Patch Features
Azeroth Shattered
Just as The Destroyer underwent a brutal transformation that left his body scarred and disfigured, so have terrible wounds been inflicted upon Azeroth. Players will notice drastically altered terrain, thousands of new quests from levels 1-60, and updated level ranges for some zones to improve the questing flow.
New Race/Class Combinations
In the wake of a world on the brink of destruction, members of the Horde and Alliance have taken to new cultures and studies, mastering crafts previously foreign to them. Many existing playable races now have new class combinations.
Archaeology: That belongs in a museum!
The Cataclysm unearthed many artifacts and remnants of the past that have lain undisturbed for ages. Adventurers scouring the world to track down these objects gain new insights into the history of the world with each find. You can now learn the Archaeology profession and uncover the mysteries of the past.
Flying Mounts in Azeroth
You can now learn to use your flying mounts in Azeroth. The sky’s the limit!
Guild Leveling
Your guild can now earn small perks and bonuses ranging from small experience bonuses to summonable guild chests to even a mass resurrection spell.

Perhaps reading up on who deathwing is would be a good start.

I also find it ironic that Smushen is a Worgen complaining about Cataclysm.

Arthas has been there through the whole game, same with illidan. i don't really know who was the 'boss' in vanilla but i guess they've been there through the whole game as, well, it started i xD when lich king died (the final enemy except sargaeron) suddenly deathwing comes out of deepholm and wrecks havoc... yes he did have lore but he still wasn't really there like everyone else... he juct 'came' for no apparent reason killing everyting... kinda stupid it happens just when the epic enemy died. thats the worst about deathwing :P

personally i never liked wotlk when i reached lvl cap... but then again i was a newb, like everyone lese once was :p so what i did was reach 80, get honor for pvp gear and go kill lich king... apparently it's not that simple! but thats another talk... that is the reason i never liked wotlk, because i was too newbie to realise what you had to do.
I like cata (mainly because of the lvl 1-60 now got fun for me, i can finally catch up to everyone and i can do some end game content too ^^), but i would also like to do some vanilla/tbc/wotlk content WHILE knowing what to do xD and the server ideas is a quite good idea, though i wonder how you would get 40 people into a vanilla raid when servers got split up and you'll lose 3 out of 4 of the wow players... it's already hard finding 25 pug people so i can't imagine how you would get 40! but else it's a quite good idea and thanks formaking cata <3 it's been lovely to start raiding :P
