BSOD's & Crashes

Technical Support
Been playing the game perfectly since launch, i start playing this morning and get a random crash in-game, now when i even load into the main menu or loading screens i'm getting quick random restarts and sometimes BSODs.

Tried updating drivers/reinstalling/watched my temps and it's definitely not that. tempted to reformat now so i can just play..

I've noticed a lot of people seem to be having the same problem, hope you guys are working on a fix already...
Hello,

Could you please post the information displayed on the BSoD? You've told us that you're getting an error message, but not what the error says. Neither Blizzard nor anyone else can help you otherwise.

If your computer restarts too quickly, here's how to stop it so you can write down what the error message says or take a photo of it: https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/6354
So just tried also playing on a previous nvidia driver. didnt work.. here are my reports from the last BSOD - seems to occure more in the main menu.

Odd, the 0x124 blue screen error is WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. WHEA is the acronym for Windows Hardware Error Architecture.

This BSoD is unusual in that typically if Windows crashes it's because software did something stupid. A 0x124 means something went wrong with the actual hardware and Windows failed to correct it.

I really don't think a format's likely to help you, to be honest. If you've overclocked your processor then undoing that and testing the game is probably a good first troubleshooting step.

Even if this only happens in Overwatch, that means the game's exposing a problem rather than creating one. A game shouldn't be capable of causing a hardware issue, and we want to make sure it can't. Even if a lot of players are getting BSoDs... I doubt they're all getting this BSoD.

tl;dr: There's a hardware problem. Could be RAM, could be something else. Let's try undoing any overclocking then work from there.
Okay, i have never overclocked my processor. so we move onto the ram? It is only happening in Overwatch as well i'm able to play b4 with no problems.

i did recently buy a new headset the other day steelseries v3 prism and installed the steelseries engine with it - if its hardware/software related?
Testing the RAM's certainly worthwhile - as it's only happening with Overwatch, you may also want to check the HDD. To be honest, I'm not an expert at troubleshooting hardware issues and you're probably better off asking someone else for assistance with this.

While I'm certainly not the only other person on the Overwatch forum, you might want to also try other websites such as Toms Hardware, or even Microsoft's own forum. Include the error above, that it happens when gaming and they'll ask for anything else they need.

Keep checking back here in case someone who's good at hardware shows up, but don't put all your eggs in one basket. Best of luck!
Okay, I've having some of the same issues, but not a BsoD. and it only happens when I try and play Overwatch.

Every other games are running fine, The Division, Doom, CSGO, and pretty intensive titles for computers, ran each one for about an 1 hour+ no issues, try and start Overwatch, restarts my computer at the load in screen, and my RAM LED light glows for a few seconds before restarting.
And again, it is only Overwatch, No other game is caused a crash, and they're pretty quite crashes like maybe 4 seconds of load screen then boom, it goes black and restarts my computer.

All drivers are up to date, even tried previous drivers, did not work.
Same issue indeed, made a thread aswell

Started a few months ago still in beta with random crashes, just giving an error report, but lately the crashes have gone to several crashes a match, and on top of that BSOD's started happening aswell.

Each time another BSOD code, and only with Overwatch.
I did some testing in other games like Doom, no problems at all.
Starwars battlefront crashed, so then i started to think maybe hardware problem.

Yesterday evening i played some wow, wich resulted in an Acces Violation #132 error. So now i don't know if its driver related or hardware.

So just to be sure, im gonna be running tests this weekend seeying if it is a hardware issue. Will keep you updated, i hope its faulty ram so that can fix the issue. But if not i have no more clue to as why overwatch keeps crashing on me.

As Doomie said, this is a fatal hardware error. Parameter 0 indicates that a Machine Check Exception happened, which certain types of CPUs generate. (E.g. Intel) Usually, WHEA errors indicate defective hardware, but you'd have to confirm this first. To dig deeper, you'd need to get a kernel dump of the crash to be able to look into the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/ntdebugging/2011/01/28/interpreting-a-whea-error-for-a-mca-fault/

Hi,

Keep getting crashes in the last week. Don't know what's causing it.

This is the code I got from crash. Don't know if it helps. It tends to only crash ingame though.

I can have a look at these mini dumps if you'd like me to. :)
Hello! i had this exact same issue pointing to this exact same file (ntoskrnl.exe+142788). It would cause my game to crash, and occasionally my PC to also BSOD! It was happening sometimes within 10 minutes of playing and sometimes it would be an hour or so of me playing and id be fine and a sudden crash would then happen! I downloaded a program called BlueScreenView (first link on google) and I saw that that my blue screen errors were pointing to a specific windows file (ntoskrnl.exe). I than took another reddit users advice (/u/jerktionary ): I opened command prompt in administrator mode, typed in "sfc/scannow", and restarted my computer. After I did this I have no BSODed since and Im not having any random overwatch issues I was having before.

Prior to this however I did update all my drivers, completely unplug all peripherals that weren't 100% neccissary to use while playing (including a second monitor), and reinstalled Overwatch with this latest patch that came out! Hopefully some of this comment fixes your Overwatch as this problem made the game unplayable for me and I wasn't getting good XP.
Saint603 did sfc/scannow find any errors?
Every time I boot up over watch it either takes me to a black screen and then i have to force quit the game or my computer restarts with no errors it just restarts. Anyone have any idea why?
Hi yeah im getting the same issue to only on Overwatch system service exception windows 7 idk why its not my ram i tested everything idk what it can be it only happens on overwatch.
