Old talent trees returning in Legion

General
Old talent trees returning in Legion in the form of artifact weapons. Here are proofs if you don't believe me:

So that means blizzard has finally admitted that the MOP and WOD talent system is garbage. So they are returning to WOTLK talent system. Nostalgia is a powerful thing nowadays it seems. Whats next? WOTLK legacy server?
its not actually the same as you think. The artifact works a little bit differently. The old talent trees allowed you to pick a variety of perks that empowered your character, but taking one means you may not have enough points to get another one. However, in Legion as long as you can get enough artifact power it is possible to achieve all of the perks.

What, by expanding on WoD's talent system to make it more exciting?

Right now a lot of the talents are boring but in Legion you'll find most are unique to each spec.

Artifact Weapon don't use a Vanilla talent tree (and thank god, that thing was dreadful). You gain power and spend it, eventually collecting all the passives in it. Unlike Vanilla, most of the talents do something exciting with only very few being similar to Vanilla's infamous crappy little % increases.

If by powerful you mean tiring, then sure.

Something tells me he knows. If you've followed the forums you'd know of this orc constantly posting about legacy and he won't stop until something happens I'm betting :p
to enhance your immersion, don't forget to wear your tinfoil hat at all time during the journey
Only thing that are similar is the fact that talents connect. There's no real choice once you've completed your artifact, not that it's a bad thing. I hope they continue or expand on the artifact weapon in the expansion after Legion.
But I liked those crappy tiny % increases... :-(
Stop making posts about Vanilla will you.

yep we are thankfully not getting that garbage tree system that stopped you getting most of the skills you wanted because you had to waste them to get that one must have skill, also no cookie cutter builds

YAY !

Hrothgar has levelled to 100. Clearly that means he admits he loves WoD.

Not exactly, but you have a point (you'll get everything in the end and most of the stuff are just passives).

With old talent trees http://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20752285620 (it's not about classic but e.g. LK - it's more complex and meaningfull) you can make PvP balanced build, PvE balanced build, control-support build ( http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/17611501090?page=2#35 ), insane burst build, survival build, universal build for solo/party-lvling, RP build and even (as "their new fantasy") build for separate encounter http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/20745625180 , anything you want (but you will have to choose between something and something) and most of it is based on the choice between passive talents. You had a lot passives, actives abilities and base class stuff (in Legion it's only spec stuff http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/17610601495?page=1#12 , even glyphs will be deleted).

So... it was somesing like: I'll buff (passives, adding points to the same lvl) this stuff because I'm using it alot (your learning at school) and after I'll buff it enough it's became a new different more powerfull spell (you go to higher class, you are unlocking higher tree's lvl).

Do you see the point now?

You can read and write as well as all the other peoples, but someone better, someone worse (Someone even could be a writer, isn't it? Someone will write novels, and someone poems, and someone all at once), you know the math (but not all of you will become engineers or scientists), it all depends on natural talents and how much time and effort you spend on its development - everyone chooses own path and how to implement it... There are certainly a genius who can keep up everywhere, but even they will have to choose anyway.

Do you see now what I mean? Still not? OK, a little more.

In your new system, all choice is already made for you beforehand: by selecting a class you have to choose a specialization and after this you already know exactly how it will ends for you (like knowing all your future). You don't choose the path itself, you select only the direction and system alredy telling you how this ends.
Old system is assumed course quite different from this: you can go wherever you want and the way you want - no matter if it be stupid or smart way, you free to choose any.

The old talent system didn't work, it was a bust where you more or less only went with the "Elitist jerk" approach. So I understand their logic in changing it.

The solution they chose though was pretty bad. Instead of having at least some choice, they removed all of it in Cata.

What they should have done back then, was going back to basics and figured out what worked in the old talent system and what didn't. Instead they took an easy solution, scrapped it all, made a few choices on what to keep, and ran with it.

I don't see the talents in Legion as a return of the old talents, pretty much because you can with enough points, select all of them. So you won't end up having to choose by the end, you'll just slap it all in there and run with it. Not sure I would call it talents either, it's character empowerment through your weapon.

I'm still hoping that they'll scrap the Cata talent system and work out a better talent system that allows us to make the character we want, not the character Blizzard approves we should have.
I think of the Artefact talents as just another version of Draenor Perks. You will unlock them all, more or less, by the time you reach 110, and will then forget about them.
I love new system. Solves the weapon problems and same time gives you a super nice path to work and upgrade your character. It is a talent + paragon system in one bag. It is the best thing Blizzard made since Vanilla :) love it!

Unique doesn't automatically mean good. A lot of legion talents are boring passives, you even have rows where you have to choose between 3 passives and in some cases up to 70% of the talent tree is made up of passives.

Not to mention the new approach to make talents with different purposes compete on the same row.
Not even close to the old trees, for the simple reason that you will be able to max the entire tree.
