Ingame info about Gilneas

Story
After the BrokenShore you can mount gryphon that flies you to anduin to give Varian's letter. During that flight a dialogue occurs that mentions Gilneas as a people or nation.

Here is some previous info about Gilneas:
- 4.3 Rogue legendary quest, Gilneas is under controll fo the alliance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwABYj6L6rI&ab_channel=kur1gaming

- The Ultimate Visual Guide claimed the rogue even was never possible because it was abandoned. UVG is controversial having several retcons, blizzard did say unless the game later shows differently it is canon but that was only days after the release so i figured it might have been said to keep sales up.

- SoO, talking about securing border and keeping a watch on forsaken.

The dialogue can be interpreted differently. Either Gilneans are still waiting to get Gilneas back and preparing to strike. But thinking about it longer it's more about Gilneas wanting revenge against the forsaken and their ready to strike if needed regardless of what the state of Gilneas is.
wasnt it stated that gilneas was so plauged no1 can live there or something similar?

That was in UVG.

To my knowledge UVG did 2 things.
Made it that Gilneas didn't just retreat back to the great wall but out of Gilneas in events that occured in Silverpine Forest.

And it claimed Gilneas was so plauged. Which was weird as well to suddenly happen.
It is possible that during the events of WoD that Greymane managed to secure some of Gilneas and thus the rebuilding has started?
It does look like that Tess Greymane and Lorna Crawley were talking about using the Gunship to fly back to Gilneas.

I'd love to see Gilneas become a relevant zone again.
And bring in some juicy Forsaken/Gilneas war to the homefront once again.

However, for something like that to happen Blizz might have to change the current Silverpine and Gilneas questing.
Or maybe do what they did in The Barrens during the Pre Siege of Orgrimmar patch.
Kezan and Gilneas as new faction capitals nuff said
Gilneas would be a terrible capital also rather not live in the city of a man who abandoned the alliance when it had to be make difficult choices

That was my interpretation at first as well. But after SoO it said Gilneas was back under alliance. (will look for the conversation later)

So maybe Gilneas is back as a nation but the people still want revenge on the forsaken for everything they've done. Sofar forsaken havn't had any consequence to what they did in Gilneas so I can understand them being pissed.

they pulled out of Gilneas and garrosh is dead. so that chapter was closed long ago. When most alliance poster on this forum talk about gilneas, we know it was never about Gilneas. If one has actually done the silverpine questline the "Gilnean liberation" front turned less nationalist and less localistic and joined Varians last atempted attack on the real lodareonians(the group holds the majority of gilneas but choose to invade lodareon proper). And in the end of the questline you force the front back to gilneas. And after that you go on to other zones to expel the alliance occupiers(called in the game by sylvanas) from forsaken lands.

The city is more or less intact. The 7th legion uses it as a staging ground in the silverpine questline. And the nation itself have not been blighted. Atleast not in the game.
if only undead still had the 3x weakess to holy that they had in vanilia then i could purge the whole of the undercity by my self :D
So heres some speculation.

What if during Legion Stormwind gets sacked? Just like during the Orcish invasion, Stormwind gets burned to the ground and we get Gilneas or a floating Exodar as the new Alliance capital?

I like that idea...every expansion we shift from one capitol to another so to have Stormwind and Orgrimmar get trashed and we go to another capitol for the next expansion would be cool.
Problem is however how you would change the levelling experience for those under 100 since those guys need Stormwind for their Auction House/Talent/Transmog needs.
