Varians Sword colour change.

General
So, the original loading screen of Varian fighting demons has him with his 2 swords, one blue and one an orangey red.

Since the patch, they're both now orangey red.

Is this intentional?

Is it a clue of some sort?

Is he going to become a demonic entity after being ressurected by Sylvanas to go against Glu'dan who puts his soul into a fel reaver as he died?

whats the story behind it, if indeed there is one :)
He completed his 100/100 dungeon milestone and unlocked additional appearance.

I guess the colours never matched lore or something silly like that.

Removing Varian would have made more sense.
They noticed that in the cinematic trailer he only had orange swords and they fixed it on the loading screen.
Actually no idea why this was changed.

His "main" sword is Shalamayne which was created when Onyxia fused Varians two halves back into one while they were holding their respective weapons Shalla'tor and Ellemayne.

Shalla'tor means Shadow Render, while Ellemayne means Reaver. While Ellemayne had a red gem, Shalla'tor had a blue gem.

^ yeah I thought they were meant to be blue and orangey/red.

This has me intrigued!
He enchanted it.
The old-blue-sword-now-orange-too is "photoshop" quality. Ugly.
He finally learned that transmog is a thing.
What's even worse is that it looks awful. It looks like someone took an orange airbrush and painted over it in photoshop or something. You can see that his hand is orange-y and it just looks bad in general.

As I said, it's fugly and awful. Like... it's the god damn LOADSCREEN OF LEGION, we see him like... maybe 30 times a day ?

the original one was identical but blue, hand and everything, so yeah its just a swift recolour.

but, why???
then we have the incoming Alcaz island stuff, where the naga kept double Varians....
EDIT : Nah, I'm the blind one, even when it was blue it was ugly.

Why ?

Since Wotlk it was orange. Even when he uses the 2 during the broken shore cinematic it's orange.
Varian is dead, there is nothing left of him. That colour change is probably because 2 red swords look cooler than 1 blue sword and 1 red sword in Blizzard's mind.

SPOILERS

In the Nighthold raid, Illidan kills Gul'dan using the same spell Gul'dan used against Varian. He put a very large quantity of Fel energy inside Gul'dan's body and then detonated it all at once. Only Gul'dan's skull was left.

Now, if Gul'dan was disintegrated by that technique, why should there be anything left of Varian? He is gone, that's what happens in war, people who have potential die. Deal with it.

How? Sylvanas used her Val'kyrs only to rescue Horde soldiers, and the Val'kyrs are the only one capable of resurrecting fallen people. Besides, you need a body, Varian's body exploded, so there's nothing the Val'kyrs can resurrect.

to go against Glu'dan who puts his soul into a fel reaver as he died?

The only problem is there is nothing that leads us to believe that. All we saw was Varian's body cracking and then exploding. Nothing that even remotely resembles a soul is seen there. Varian is gone, have fun with Anduin.
there has to be a reason why the swords went from blue and orangey red to both orangey red. It's not just oversight or cosmetic.

It's not the former, it's probably the latter.

Besides, what kind of hint is that? Oh cool, one of Varian's sword is red in a pointless loading screen, it totally means he is now alive despite all evidence pointing towards the complete opposite.
Belfara please remove the spoiler from this thread, it has nothing to do with the topic and your spoiler tag is completely useless if it's in the same reading pane as the actual spoiler.

Varians life is bound by the two swords.

His soul was split and those swords Shalamayne held him together as long as they were bound.

In the fight on the lost shore, Varian split the swords there by splitting his soul and during the cinematic we see varian killed but only one of his swords losing it's power.

You could extrapolate from this that one half of Varians soul is still alive.

just a theory though nothing more.
Depending on the Horde or Alliance version of the ending cinematic you see the sword in different positions, so one may argue that each cinematic has one half and that both halves have lost power. It's still weird tho' that even after splitting the swords again, they did not split into the originals with the orange and blue crystal. But instead Shalamayne simply "duplicates" itself.
