Sha of Anger - Dying too Fast?

Current/LIVE - This issue has now been fixed:
    • Sha of Anger will only respawn at the northernmost point, west of One Keg.
    • Additionally he now has a short respawn shield of 5 seconds damage reduction.
    • The respawn timer remains the same as before.
    • No mention of these changes in the recent patch notes.

Good job everyone! We finally made them fix Sha of Anger! :)

No spawn shield or temporary damage immunity added.
Still no official word from Blizzard.

TL;DR: Sha of Anger, Pandaria world boss, has become frustratingly hard to farm (for the mount), as he is now easily soloable by any Legion max level and dies in only a few hits. Especially annoying on large cross-realm clusters and realms!

So I recently started my weekly rare mount farming back up, killing Sha of Anger located in Kun-Lai Summit, Pandaria, on 26 characters every reset. A journey into the abyss and madness of probably never seeing one of the rarest mounts fall into my bags. Playing on one of the largest populated cross realm clusters, this has proven more of a headache than previous expansions, especially due to how HP and damage has scaled after Legion hit. All resulting in the Sha boss being 2-4 shot by decently geared max level Legion characters.

This makes it frustratingly difficult - and in many cases impossible - reaching the Sha of Anger boss in time, before he is killed off in a few strikes by - as mentioned before - a decently geared Legion max level player, resulting in the need for you to wait for another respawn, and pray it doesn't happen again. One might add that this is on 310% mounts, and also observed on a Paladin with 310% mount, camping near the mountains in the middle (North of Westwind Rest), which should put you around the center of all the 5 spawn points.

List of potential fix suggestions:
Which have been brought up by players in this topic and in previous similar topics.
    • Give the boss a spawn damage protection/shield/immunity of around 60 seconds after respawn, where you can still tag the boss for loot credit
    • Decrease respawn timer, coupled with damage immunity on spawn
    • Give the boss a weekly fixed spawn position
    • Make the boss scale better with current damage/HP
    • Apply the same fix to the other Pandaria world bosses + Rukhmar WoD
    (Feel free to add realistic suggestions, and I'll edit them in here)

I agree, or at least a fix/change along those lines.

Also especially since this wasn't a problem before late WoD and Legion, introducing yet another layer of difficulty, which to my knowledge wasn't the intend in the first place, as evidenced by the "recently" lowered respawn timer of the Pandaria world bosses.

What was already a tough mount farm, has turned even tougher as a result of collateral damage caused by the Legion stat squish, which in my - and clearly also others' - opinion needs fixing.

No he doesn't just a 30 second immunity on spawning, simple fix (since it is a lock out they could increase the spawn rate as well)
please make Sha Great again as same Trump made with USA!

I believe best solution would be if ALL World Boss mobs from older expansions should get some kind of buff which will keep them alive for at least 1 minute.

Solution like that would work now and it would also work few expansions later

It isn't long ago they decreased the respawn timers on all of the Pandaria world bosses, and honestly I think the 15-30 minutes are fine, as long as you can get to the boss when it spawns, before it gets killed off. :-(

I agree. A solid future proof solution, as long as tagging the boss while the shield/protection/immunity is up counts towards loot.

The immunity sounds like a great idea! Why hasnt this been live though. It should be for current world bosses aswell if they have a yell that reaches the whole zone.

It would be a great way to avoid these issues in future expansions and stat squishes. Absolutely.

+1 this will give players in the zone a chance to get there and prepare, even players with 310% flying, waiting in the middle of the zone to have vision of all spawnspots watch the boss die within seconds halfway there..something is not right

Need a fix.
The one minute immunity and tagged during that minute would be more than enough to fix this issue now and in future xpacs :)

Agreed! This is only going to get worse as we're getting better gear, and the stats of previous expansions keep getting squished further.

I think most rares / world bosses pre-legion should to be changed to be always up, quick respawn, and only be able to loot it once per day/week.

Legion and most WoD rares respawn pretty much instantly, only be able to loot them once per character.

I don't think immunity is needed, just make the boss respawn near instantly at 1 spot.

I do see the point with the immunity. Last time I actually tried for Sha there were a good number of us waiting due to CRZ. Only one person actually tagged and killed the boss. The person was a !@#$bag ofc for going all out instead of just tagging but lots of people are selfish when it comes to this game.

Yeah, wasn't thinking about that people could camp it to deny other people that way.

10 second immunity, 1 minute respawn in 1 spot could work without being overly intrusive. the zone wide yells could be adjusted to not be spam.

Same goes for Galleon, make it spawn and stay on 1 spot.
