Need Help with Nighthold/Raiding

New/Returning Player Questions & Guides
I have done some basic 5 man dungeons in the past, but never gone anywhere near raids because I never had anyone to play them with. I want to get all 5 pillars of creation, so I want to do the Nighthold, but don't have the first clue as to how to go about raiding. Does anyone have any important advice/tips/guides I could use?
Do world quests and dungeons to increase your item level.
Your best bet is to raid with your guild since random parties from group finder most of the time have ridiculous requirements.
You also need raiding addons, two most important being Deadly Boss Mods and Recount, just google them.
Level up your professions, they are beneficial to your raid performance (for example food buffs from cooking).

To increase your item level and especially to get into Nighthold raid your item level has to be increased by doing world quests and mythic/mythic+ dungeons.
If you have a privilege of being in a guild who occasionally raids make contact with your guilds guildmaster or raidleader to ask what are their item level expectations.

I disgaree, Recount is a fps eater so if you really want to keep an eye on your own dps get Details, it is more fps friendly addon.
Also BigWigs is way better than DBM by a long shot.

This, mostly meaning you have to have flasks, potions and food. But also you need your gear enchanted and gemmed to actually look like you make an effort.
Make sure you get right gems, enchants and talents by reading your class guide for example from wowhead:

Youtube has many good guides if one prefers to learn from seeing and listening instead.
Here's a few guides;

1. Profs are irrelevant in raids except for some very, very niche cases or minor convenience. Don't bother if you don't want it.

2. Icy veins encounter guides are very primitive and hardly offer anything of value, use detailed wowhead guides if you want to really understand what's going on.

You can always wait until patch 7.2, where Nighthold will become obsolete playground for alts that you can easily overgear, and get the pillar without much trouble.
