What changes would you make to WOW?

General
This is a post that i saw in a different forum and i would like to see your suggestions.
Get rid of the current luck dependency that Legion is based on with RNG stuffed into every one of its orifices for a start.

Sick of it. Blizzard's method to "prolonging" the game this expansion is nothing short of disgusting.
Replace the staff in charge of Legion...
I would change combat to be more like Black Desert Online
- Remove RNG including but not limited to
-The current legendary system
- Both warforging titanforging random tertiary stats and random sockets

- Bring back old sockets (coloured, meta etc)
- Bring back old enchants
- Remove LFR and normal go back to old normal and heroic
- Replace LFR with tourist mode, this is basically LFR but awards blues below heroic dungeon level.
- Remove artifact weapons, and replace them with class specific legendaries which are incredibly difficult to get (like old legendarys but class specific)
- Remove any and all content gates you want to do it all in one sitting, you can do it it will just take you a long time
- Remove cross realm zones and tech entirely, bring back server specific communities lower pop servers are merged with other low pop servers to create super servers, (free name changes are given to any name conflicts, it isn't that much a big deal)
- Appearance and realm changes are now free but put on a 3 month cool down
- Removal of the in game store, give all store mounts and pets a method of being obtained through game play and actual content
- Removal of any and all kinds, of level speed increases, level boosts and paid instant level 100s
- Removal of heirlooms
- Dramatically buff all quest mobs.
- Dramatically nerf low level characters (tanking specs in paticular)
- Make levelling hard again, but make the game at max level alt friendly again.

Outside of the game:
- More dev communication
- Use beta servers like beta servers and not hype wheels.
- Regular Q&As (every 2ish weeks)
- An assurance upon expansion purchase the minimum amount of content and updates the expansion will contain. (To stop blizz cutting corners and us ending up with WOD 2.0)
Remove versatility as a stat. It's uninteresting and does not affect gameplay in the slightest, just increases/decreases the numbers you see.

Be more transparent about the Legendary system. We still have very little idea how it actually works. Alternatively, the RNG can possibly be toned down a small amount; perhaps a token for an "Arcane" Legendary can drop, which allows you to pick any of the Arcane specific ones, or a "Multi spec" token can drop which would allow a preference of items including Sephuz, Prydaz or Belo'vir's. I want to make it clear that I personally do not support the outright removal of RNG on such "easy" to obtain Legendaries, as without it everybody would just be running around with the same Legendary.

Make each class' speciality meaningful, worthwhile and have fair opportunity. For example, Shadow Priest excels in a cleave situation, and really suffers on low-HP adds/short fights and single target; there's nothing wrong with this, but there is not a fair opportunity to showcase this strength in the game as it is right now. The only issue is the babies who happen to play "all arounders" (Fury, Havoc, Frost DK etc.) would be up in arms that they aren't top DPS practically every fight.

Add another rDPS. We've never had a new rDPS added. The game is flooded with mDPS with most guilds suffering a horrendous imbalance between rDPS and mDPS numbers.
rework talent tree's

no more separation between pve/pvp.
  • Add a hard-mode for questing and leveling, giving mobs a good deal more health and damage.
  • Level scaling from levels 10-100. Mobs, quests and quest rewards would scale up with the player. Not down though, or there would be no feeling of progression.
  • Lower the minimum level to pick quests by at least ten levels, to allow leveling players to find their own sweet spot of challenge.
  • Return small group (3-5) scenarios as in MoP and expand the concept with bigger, meaner and more epic scenarios.
  • Use scenarios when leveling to let leveling players experience important lore events from raids and expansion events that they would otherwise never know about.
  • Add world quests, bosses and invasion-like events all over the world, including capital cities. Defend Stormwind from Kazzak, defeat a gnollish bandit gang raiding Lakeshire or Durotar etcetera etcetera...
  • Boats! Boat mounts, boat vehicles. Imagine guilds in customised warships battling each other on the high seas...
  • Add a "new" type of dungeon - the classic labyrinthine adventure dungeon like Blackrock Depths, old Sunken Temple or old Stratholme. With keys, puzzles, back doors, hidden wings, rare spawns and legions of bosses. Places where you could spend an entire evening. Not for LFD at all, nor mythic+, this would be a place you go to for adventure, not spam dozens of times for loot boxes.
Remove all cockroaches first and foremost, bugs.

Don't have enough knowledge on WoW to be suggesting major changes. Another thing that annoys me is the flying in Legion, wish that could change.
Remove most of the RNG. That would be enough.
Revamp leveling, it is currently a complete and utter mess, I know from experience. Zero challenge, pacing out of control.

Other than that I dunno, more things happening outside current expansion zone would be nice, something like the invasions in Broken Isles, but could be anything and happen anywhere in the world.
Get rid of a damn lot of RNG. not only socket/titanforged/extra stat rng, but also legendary RNG (back to the old system, where you take a quest, but only one chosen raidmember at a time would get it.) and also remove a lot of class RNG

remove LFD/LFR. yes, i liked to wander to the dungeons. And before you get out your hunting rifle and call me a "nostalgic" and that this was not as fun as i remember it - i have not played vanilla back in the days. in fact, i only went for one of those servers AFTER the nostalrius incident during my break in WoD. And i had a freaking blast, with these travels over the continent being some of the fun things. Obviously much more fun, when sitting in voicechat with at least one mate, but fun still.
(guild-mate actually summed it up perfectly "people who liked that also don't use fast-travel in skyrim. Welll, here i am, barely using fast travel in skyrim indeed.)

Pull a full FFXIV. Scrap the entire game as it is right now and re-build it from the ground up on a new engine. This also allows for re-doing the leveling process, to make it much more fun again and allows for squishing down all the stats and resetting max-level back to 60. I mean, we could remain at the same point in time story-wise, bvut this game is in dire need of of overhaul in all the low-level regions and it is in need of uupdated graphics. Yes legion looks good for WoW-standards and it also looks good for a 12 year old game. But for actual standards? Its horrible.

Get people on board of the class design-team, who actually play this game on a very high level for both PvE and PvP. if you watch some of the design decisions for certain specs, you just have to wonder, if anybody at the dev team plays WoW at all. So get people who are indeed playing on the high-end spectrum of each class and spec involved. This would probably also allow to finally have some decent pvp....

    IMPROVE THE GOD DAMN STORYTELLING.
Let's face it, this is WoWs weakness since forever. Questtexts are boring to read and barely involve you in any kind. Also these stupid chat-windows popping up right into your face are nothing more but an annoyance. Watch how other games (ffxiv *cough*) do story-telling and learn.
The cutscenes to the legion-regions have been a nice start, but it was not expanded on them at all.

and i guess if i thought a little bit now i would find a damn lot more.
- Add way more options in character creation

- Add sub races and different body types for every race

- Reintroduce talent trees (current Artifact trait system already basically IS the new talent tree with the exception you can earn points to buy everything as opposed to having to make a choice)

- Remove Mythic, Mythic+ dungeons *

- Remove Mythic raids *

- Add an extra tier to warforging and titanforging; legendforging. Make it very very very rare. I actually like this part of RNG stuff.

- Make solo versions of every dungeon and raid (scaled, so they would not be a total faceroll, but they're not so hard they're basically for the elite few)

- New class: Tinkerer (for gnomes and goblins only, bite me demonhunters)

- Change the way hunter pets work; hunter has 5 (at higher lvls) pet slots. Every beast he/she tames adds the appearance of that beast to his/her pet appearance tab. The player can then assign that look to 1 of his/her 5 pet slots. Skill wise the pet can be totally altered by the player (basic builds for those who don't wish to min-max their pets). Many, many unique skills and traits available. Exotic skills and traits for BM.

* Not really serious, but saw others mentioning removing LFR difficulties. Let people play how they want to play, don't force your kind of fun on others.
Mostly what I've played of Legion I've really enjoyed, bar a couple of niggles over climbing mountains and getting lost. I'd like to see more choice, so people who want to go faster can, people who want to take it slower can and you don't end up with a bunch of instance and raid quests that you have to do to get any further.

I'd like to see professions improved.

I'd like some more thought into how instances can be designed to suit different types of game play. Some go faster, skip mobs, ride mounts, out in the open, beat the clock, faceroll types, and some open doors, solve puzzle, use cc, escort npc, wait for boss types with comparable drops, rather than specific drops, so people can choose to queue the ones that suit them.

I like instances like Violet Hold and Halls of Reflection, but not everyone does. I don't like these new open plan instances with the constant pushbacks and aoe.

I'd like an expansion designed to have flying in it at some stage, not an afterthought when people complain about it not being there.

Most of all I'd like people to be friendlier. How a game design can force that on people, I'm not really sure.

They can revamp levelling if they like, so long as priest can still one shot mobs at their level and if instances are harder, people don't rage every time someone makes a mistake. I'd worry that if it was harder, new players wouldn't be just struggling to keep up, they'd be kicked for not cc'ing at the right time, or doing enough damage. Raging usually happens when stuff is harder, not so much when it's easy I find. Maybe I'm wrong of course.
remove LFR so you coudl only do normal,HC or mythic
Start all new characters at level 50, it is beyond pointless starting at 0, with heirlooms and whatnot means no one learns a thing anymore in the early levels.

Revamp all the old zones that are no longer used from 1-50 to reflect lore changes, or whatever is going on in the expansion i.e Gilneas etc

Bring back the old talent tree!
I'd actually bother to try and fix PVP. which honestly isn't that hard.
  • Fire anyone who previously worked on Diablo 3 and are now working on WoW.
  • Slap Holinka with a wet flannel repeatedly and demote him to lead coffee maker.
  • Replace the current class design teams and have it mandatory for the replacement designers to play the classes that they are in charge of designing.
  • Give Jeff Kaplan and Geoff Goodman advisory positions on the WoW team.
  • Ditch LFR entirely (as much as you hate to admit it it is bad for the game).
  • Abandon the RNG aspects of loot and return it to the tried and true need/greed system, no more RNG stats, RNG sockets or RNG gearscore, you know what drops from who, you know what's BiS and you know what you're getting.
  • There's a few off the top of my head.
    Less RNG.

Mythic+ for every single 5man in game. (And keep m+ in future expacs)

1 extra roll per week, with a forced drop from the boss you coin. (This drop would be RNG, like always but forced drop)

Stop making mounts for the store. Make them achievements.

Try hire or work with highly experienced players, whom basically earn a living by playing the game. Most clear example is PVP design. Has Holinka even been Gladiator? How about you have open talks with top ranking players, that spend A LOT more time in game than ANY dev possibly could. Goes for PVE also.
