Class changes in 8.0

I hope they actually bring the CLASS fantasy instead of a SPEC fantasy we got now. Druids were left being able to do pretty much everything in any spec and that's what makes them fun. Why were other classes denied this? Why can't I raise dead as frost/blood? Am I a death knight or a frost/blood warrior?

I want to see a real class fantasy like druid has and not a spec fantasy like half the other classes in this game.


I guess it probably depends on the individual and maybe the class but I very much like spec fantasy. As a frost mage I like that mostly all my spells are frost themed now. I don't want fire or arcane spells as a frost mage. I know mages used to have a mixture of spells from all three specs but I didn't really like it like that.

Why not both? Some stuff that is class fantasy (i agree on your army of the dead part. Didnt even know you cant summon it outside unholy or something. I dont play DK tho) aswell as having stuff that is spec fantasy.


Yes I totally agree that we should have both class and spec fantasy. Specs need to feel like they are unique with their own special stuff so spec fantasy has its place. The problem in Legion is that for some classes there is no class fantasy part, and where each spec feels like its own class with nothing to connect it to other specs of the class. DK is a good example of this.

I hope next expansion they manage to give us both class and spec fantasy that will make sense and represent both the class and its specs in a better and more natural way.

P.S They removed Death Pact in Legion. Death Pact was one of the most iconic DK abilities since WC3 where you sacrificed your minion to heal yourself. Not even unholy managed to keep it. #classfantasy

I hear that lie a lot. I heard it with talents "you were forced to pick the best" which was just nonsense. Most people didn't play the meta, 90% of the time they didn't.

Yes I agree that spec fantasy has its place as it makes each spec unique in its own way. I just thing they went overboard with it for some classes. I don't play mages so idk about them, but imo DK was hit pretty hard in Legion and has retained very little of its class fantasy.

2 expansions ago all DK specs could summon ghoul and army of the damned and had death pact to sacrifice their minions to sustain themselves. All DK specs had 3 presences which made sense as even though a DK can specialize in one of the three ''schools'', it's logical that he/she also knows how to use basic abilities of other ''schools'' just in a lesser and weaker scope. That made all 3 specs versatile and it made sense. Most of that was taken away, first in smaller scope in WoD then the rest in Legion. For me personally it made the class quite bare as a class in whole.

Now look at druids (I'm not bashing on them just pointing out stuff). They can shapeshift in all forms in any spec. They can heal and even use nature spells in any spec. Of course they won't be able to use everything other specs have and what they can use is weaker than in the spec it is the main focus on but the point is that there is a lot of versatility for each spec and a lot of core class stuff for each spec that really makes them feel like the part of the class. The druid class fantasy works perfectly with the spec fantasy.

I just think that there should be a middle ground without going from one extreme to another like they did in Legion. But I guess we can only wait and see what they will do in the next expansion.

I doubt it'll be all the traits. Maybe (hopefully) the active one at the very least. I for instance would love to still be able to use 2 pets in the future as a BM. Hell, they could turn it into a talent and make it optional for those who don't like that sort of thing.
Artifact weapons are not that bad... are better than waiting for a drop.

Thing is that we need shaping. We should be able for example... to choose if we will make a two swords out of Frostmourne shards... or two-handed sword... or maybe polearm & whatever. Ofcourse - being able to shape them again, and again, whenever we want.

Even skins that we have in Legion are ALL the same weapon type, for no reason at all. Why?

on the other hand on my fire mage i really dont want to be casting too much frost or arcane
will we have an option to revert back to 2h weapons?


Sincerely hope not, and in all honesty it is very, very, very, very unlikely to ever happen.

Relics smooth out the gearing curve for weapons. It's not drop or not anymore as it was before 7.0, and potentially big jumps in weapon (I went from WoD HC dungeon straigth to HM HC, because on normal the weapon just refused to drop). It prevents someone falling far behind in damage/healing/survivability due to bad luck. In that, artifacts are good.

what you had can just happen with relics aswell but instead of 1 or 2 you need 3drops now per spec and lot more specefic for most specs then weapons ever where, and from my experience they drop just as often as normal weapons did in past.

I Personaly want xuen basline (or atleast a viable option for once) and tigereye brew back.
I´m okay with any change they make, as long as they dont do another skillreduction. The spellbooks are empty enough as it is.
Classes/specs made fun again as i see legion as a clear downgrade in that regard.
Talents that give small bonus to x/y/z spell instead of whole abilities.
Game returning to its "casual friendliness" state.
Game client optimization. WoW used to run great and load super fast, not so much now. I don't know if engine is stretched out too much or something but it feels working sluggish. Might be all the crap added through the years.
What i personally hope for is that one of the warrior dps speccs gets reworked. We got a hunter spear artifact weapon. Making the polearm finally relevant again after many many many years.

but i can't help but feel like a polearm spec would fit the warrior the best. Because in history and history worlds spears and shields are one of the most standard equipments there are.
