WoW "not responding" on loading screens

Technical Support
It will say "this program is not responding" for 10+ seconds and then load. It happens with all loading screens including the character select screen.

I have removed my addons folder temporarily, that didn't fix it. I have also ran the repair tool, that didn't fix it. The one thing that did fix it was changing WTF, Interface, and Cache folders to have a .old at the end of them, but this doesn't seem like a permanent fix since addons don't show up.

Edit: I should also note that this randomly started happening yesterday. Before that it was working fine.
Hiya Cjmx,

From what you've said, it really is likely that your issue is caused by your addons.

Since just removing your addons folder doesn't do a full UI reset, as quite a lot of the addons remaining configuration files and cached data is still loaded. Even if the actual addons aren't. Which is why renaming all 3 of the folders fixed it.

So please rename the folders again, test the game out for a while and only then re-install your addons. But please only re-install addons that are updated for this expansion.

Good luck :)
For anyone with the same problem, a new Cache folder fixed it.

I figured this out after removing the WTF, Interface and Cache folders, allowing WoW to create new ones. Everything worked fine like this. Then I moved addons to the new folder one by one to find the culprit. It turns out none of the addons were the problem. So I started to mix and match the old folders with the new. Using the old WTF and Interface folders with the new cache folder worked perfectly.
i have to do this almost every few days, deleting cache folder. After a few days the loading screen becomes unresponsive before loading into the game.

Thanks! I just tested renaming the cache-folder and relaunched the game. Loading was much quicker!
Give that man (Cjmx) a Cigar and a Whiskey!
Simply rename your "Cache" folder to "Cache.old" and welcome back glorious fast loading!

Note: going by size it looks like the ".\World of Warcraft\Cache\ADB\enUS" folder is the culprit with multiple large DBCache.bin files where the 'active' one is 164MB in my case. Simply renaming that single file (DBCache.bin) has the same end result as renaming the Cache folder.
I did this worked fine for a week or so.Now its back to 20 sec unresponsive every load screen...sigh.

So I'm just supposed to keep doing it every week? There isn't a more permanent fix?

Also having this, not caused by addons i believe
Heya,

If you are still having trouble with this, go through the steps to clear your UI (addons) (even if you do not have any addons installed). Once done, repair the game files and retest.
