Can I just say, I love everything about this.

We're helping baby land turtles to go drown themself in the ocean...
There are grown up sea turtle modells swimming around in the ocean - we can even kill them - but you've put land turtle modell into a quest, where we're supposed to help baby turtles to reach the ocean/sea...

So w have not saved a single turtle, we've just delayed a lot of turtle's imminent death by a few minutes before they've drowned in the ocean :)

The important thing is they made it to the water.

Never forget, the cycle of life can be cruel.

They're all dead, they're all land turtles and will drown in minutes after entering the ocean.
Devs need to look into the queue time, this poor sod must have queued for days..
But did the turtles make it to the water - in the third war?
They are all in the secret "turtle-level".
Only managed to get there once, using same secret as cow-level :P

I'll be honest sometimes I just sit and watch the turtles get picked off and make no effort to save them. It's time the turtles learned to evolve and save them self like some sort of ninja or something!
1. Not casual people got it in week 2.
2. Casuals like me got in week 7 or so
3. Rest should play previous expansion and farm mounts or mogs becouse they wont be abble to do more in BFA.
... I will never do that quest again. And need some time to think about... things...

5. Your effort to save the turtles in pointless cause they live their life in water (all of them) or they invisible (so there is no way to tell if you saved at least one) or they just simply die somewhere.

Maybe the turtles that are clever enough to not die in ocean will come back as tortollans?
You know who didnt make it to the water?
Torga...

Sad but true!
Blizzard, send this man a turtle plushie.
This put a smile on my face.

This is the best post I have ever seen.

Perhaps the Tortollan are secretly allied with Queen Azshara, and we are unwittingly helping them build an army of turtles that, once transformed by N'Zoth, will return and dominate Azeroth.

Well I think I pointed out the legendary meme :
"New expansion confirmed!" =)

By all that is unholy, OP, what have you done?

I've released the kra...wait turtles xD

What about billions of billions killed seagulls and crabs?

I know i know...cycle o life can be devastating. :'(

Hmmm....Tempting...

Wait, the only reason we arent actually seeing all of these could be so simple. Its the 3rd hungry enemy. The Sharks Id guess? Every single one of them getting to the water is another Sharks bite. Cos, you know, The Cycle of Life can be Cruel!

You forgot that only about 0.01% or less Turtles that make it to the water reach adulthood or survive much longer than just reaching the water. Azeroth has a lot of Sharks.

Yup but there is second side of the coin here.
Assumption#1 : Sharks are mad hungry and they eat 100 turtles on daily basis.
Assumption#2 : There is no acutal math on water's pixels amount at the moment so I'll make measurements here. If you'd search for a WoW's map you'd land with something like this : https://www.wyrimaps.net/wow#s:wow_battle_for_azeroth;z:3;lat:3.6888551431470478;lng:-1.5820312500000002. With that I can work with. From MMO's post we get Kalimdor's pixels' and from map above we take total amount of pixels in this picture - water (https://imgur.com/FVOJ5gw).
Kalimdor size : 33,615,369 px
Our scale model : 90972 - 40434 = 50538 (our Kalimdor)
33 615 369 / 50538 ~ 665
Now the scale is known so we can transmute our map to his size : 33 607 770 (our Kalimodr after resizing). More or less it's 100% accurate to MMO's post so we can transmute water to the scale yet first we need data from our map of Azeroth. Map says :
377401 (Water) / 435516 (Total) ~ 86,66% of the map is covered in water (at least for now).
Yet this is not the water we have access to so I assumed we have only access to coasts and where should be those mighty sharks. Now... I've divided this map into two cause of photshop bugs :
https://imgur.com/Bxs7nVC
https://imgur.com/0ElKgi4
with results around 10% error (cause FML selecting milions of colors' variations) we've got :
8621 / 211134 + 11019 / 224844 = 19640 / 435978 ~ 4,5% is accessible to us +- 0,45
So what do we need now ? We know :
1. turtle / shark ratio (100:1)
2. we can scale things up (1:665 is correct)
3. we've got water accessible (8%)
So now :
1. Rescale our map to MMO's one : 435978 * 665 = 289 925 370 px (World)
2. Remember that 1px = 1,902m
Variants:
1.1 289925370 * 0,405 ~ 117 419 775px coastline water accessible to us (in pixels) or 117 419 775 / 1,902 ~ 61 734 898 m^2
1.2 289925370 * 0,495 ~ 143 513 058px coastline water accessible to us( in pixels) or 143 513 058 / 1,902 ~ 75 453 763 m^2

Now with turtle / shark ration we've got numbers :
#1 8 083 224
#2 8 352 665
#3 8 622 106
#4 8 891 546
#5 9 160 987
#6 9 430 428
#7 9 699 869
#8 9 969 310
#9 10 238 750
#10 10 508 191
#11 10 777 632
...number of total sharks anywhere (in our waters)

Finally we have :
Variant 0,405 :
Number / turtle - shark ratio / shark-per-pixel-in-our-coastline / shark-per-meter^2
#1 8 083 224 0,07 0,13
#2 8 352 665 0,07 0,14
#3 8 622 106 0,07 0,14
#4 8 891 546 0,08 0,14
#5 9 160 987 0,08 0,15
#6 9 430 428 0,08 0,15
#7 9 699 869 0,08 0,16
#8 9 969 310 0,08 0,16
#9 10 238 750 0,09 0,17
#10 10 508 191 0,09 0,17
#11 10 777 632 0,09 0,17

Variant 0,495 :
Number / turtle - shark ratio / shark-per-pixel-in-our-coastline / shark-per-meter^2
#1 8 083 224 0,06 0,11
#2 8 352 665 0,06 0,11
#3 8 622 106 0,06 0,11
#4 8 891 546 0,06 0,12
#5 9 160 987 0,06 0,12
#6 9 430 428 0,07 0,12
#7 9 699 869 0,07 0,13
#8 9 969 310 0,07 0,13
#9 10 238 750 0,07 0,14
#10 10 508 191 0,07 0,14
#11 10 777 632 0,08 0,14

To sum this up - every coastaline's square of size 10 m^2 should contain 1,1 - 1,7 sharks and apparently it does not. Sharks would have to eat tons of them on daily basis and based on their average size it would be impossible because they'd have to eat turtles in amount that woudl exceed their volumes few times which doesn't happen in nature (I belive ?) :D. Another thing is unreal cause in case the distribution of sharks and turtles had to be exactly the same in the water which is not true. If you'd look for instance at whales' migration cycles you'd see that they move across entire planet :). Somone pointed Claws & Albatrosses. Well you just saved 12 turtles no matter what thus the numbers from 1st posts still hold :D.
Anyhow from that question another answer pops up.
377401 * 665 = 250 971 665px or 250 971 665 / 1,902 ~ 131951453,73 m^2 ~ 131 952 km^2 are covered in water

10^7 is 10 million, 10^6 is a million. Does that mean all data needs the be recalculated now?

It was only shortcut cause I belive in american english there are missmatches with numbers and not only with them :D.

Basing only on those beach quest I highly doubt that cause...let's face it - they don't know even how to move left/right or look up :D.

Can I just say, I love everything about this.

There is a field to maneuver here from Blizz side I belive. Those calculations even with their flaws shows one simple thing. Simple things which seem non relevant like throwing something on the street instead of trashing it, throwing leftovers from any meal (and so on and so forth...) can (and probably) have impact on our surroundings. This could lead for instance to implement some kind of entertainment inside the WoW like minigames, hidden mounts (etc.) to teach (within real scientific studies) youngers yet that was not intent of my posts.

PS I like math. In earlier days of school I hated it then I went to the college and they tought me how to like this. Normal people with passions can teach you many things.
Oh Ketrish you mad fool :D
After having read this im scared to save a single turtle.
