Allied Races: "Now go do a legacy raid"

The quest "The Emerald Nightmare: The Stuff of Dreams" is a requirement for unlocking the Nightfallen allied race.

Anyone else think having to do a legacy raid not included in the level 120 raid finder is just horrible?
Didnt they fix this recently so you dont have to do the raid?

Yep, this was indeed hotfixed so that The Stuff of Dreams no longer requires defeating Xavius. If your quest requires you to defeat him, simply abandon the quest and pick it up again.

And what about the rep requirements? Surely expecting people to go back to outdated and redundant locales to unlock current content is silly, right?

... right?

Its low enough already, you dont need to be 19000/21000 rep anymore to complete it.

I much prefer having the same requirements for everyone. Also, can you not solo Xavius by now?

Surely expecting people to earn a reward is silly, right?
technically speaking legion is not legacy... legacy is 11 levels above the content we are only 10 and if the community spent a fraction of the time actually doing stuff that they do whining like 5 year olds they would have gotten it done already
Allied races were advertised (and still are) as part of BfA. You'll notice that no-one is complaining about the Honorbound/7th Legion rep grind to unlock Dark Iron Dwarves or Mag'har Orcs. Earning current content rewards for doing current content is fine.

Making players go back to a previous expansion to unlock something that we've already established is part of the current expansion isn't fine. If every allied race was locked behind BfA content, it wouldn't be an issue.

Consider this:

They've removed Legion content from the Companion app. Not only does this quite clearly signal the end of Legion, but it also removes a source of rep linked to half of the allied races. Either: a) They haven't thought this through at all, or b) They know exactly what they're doing, and realise BfA's content is wafer thin, so they're cynically padding it out by making players who want to unlock the allied races (again, for clarity, part of BfA) go back and grind Legion content with no other source of rep.

The "You have to earn your rewards" argument is redundant. Blizzard developed and released BfA, and the playerbase bought BfA, because Legion has run its course. We're not talking about some random mount from Cataclysm or a tier set from TBC here, we're talking about a primary selling point of the current expansion forcing players to *not* play the current expansion.
Getting to exalted with the Nightfallen takes one day (maybe a week if you only play an hour per day) of doing all of their quests, since there are no time gates anymore. You had almost two years of Legion to complete it. Not sure why people are still complaining.
You want a reward without doing the content.

Lol. This made me laugh a lot.
Those with the earliest access to Nightborne as a playable Race would almost certainly have earned the achievement The Good Suramaritan - even Insurrection - before Allied Race unlocks became available & this would have been the primary baseline for the process.

While Legion was still live there was some validity to The Stuff of Dreams as a criterium for The Good Suramaritan; once access to Emerald Nightmare - LFR became removed from the game, for those in BfA content, that validity was lost.

Where the point for debate remains is whether queueable LFR should remain an option for those who are still not L120 & at what point previous Raid LFR should become closed - should it be ~L115, when Legendary Traits cease to become active, maybe...?

The easiest option seems to have been taken (The Stuff of Dreams being removed from the Achievement list) given that LFR from the previous Expansion seems to currently get removed upon reaching L111 (last Expansion cap +1).

Already done the old set of requirements, before The Stuff of Dreams got removed? Bonus.
Are there new players who have yet to buy BfA and still want to do Legion Raids before they move on? Possibly, but I doubt their number would be sufficient to warrant leaving The Stuff of Dreams in the mix.

I tried last night on my fire mage (who has the rep), I got popped by the bear :(
Glad to see the white knights (so many paladins...) are as easily amused as ever.

Defending crappy, cynical business practices is how we've ended up with this hollow husk of an expansion in the first place.

Say a new Mario game came out tomorrow, and included several playable characters. Now imagine that you could only play as half of them if you'd unlocked everything in Mario 64.

Have you been asleep through a the countless complaint threads about dark iron dwarfs and Magyar orcs? Not to mention the ones already complaining about the kul tirans and zandalaris that haven't even had any info released on how to get them yet?

Legion is not legacy. Legacy is the expansion before the previous (-15 levels).

Legion is current content for the base game.

That’s great! Now just realise rep grinding is a giant pile of farts, and remove that too. Thanks!
