I can't get excited about gear anymore

General
Looking at their designs for the new BFA warglaives, yeah I’m not excited either. What are thooooose.

In terms of gear rarity etc, meh. Always been that way since TBC.
I miss guilds dkp and master loot.

Eh good times.
It would be interesting if they made all talents, traits and stats equally viable. That would encourage people to find unique and experimental builds to play with.

Right now there's usually just one talent per tier which is better than the others. Every class has just one stat that they want to stack above all others. Every role has one azerite trait that performs better than the rest.

In the end everyone is pursuing the exact same build. Inferior talents, stats and traits might as well not exist. Blizzard pruned a bunch of abilities that people still wanted but left all these useless "features" in the game.

Does any class even stack versatility? Right now it feels like the only purpose of this stat is to stop you from being happy about getting a new piece of gear.

Both DH specs benefit from versatility. We don't have to religiously stack it like haste, but its still the second most important secondary stat for us. So at least 2 specs, and I'm sure there are other classes that use it as well.
Oh, look. I got a piece that is worthless to me, but can't trade it to a guildy that could use it.
Oh, look. I got a trinket that is completely worthless to everybody in the game.
Oh, look. I got a trinket from the last boss of the raid that is completely worthless to everybody in the game.
Oh, look. A mediocre-at-best chest with a boring as balls trait that is supposed to be the replacement for legendaries, set pieces and artifact weapons.
Oh, cool. A sword with great stats and a sick model. J/k, rogues cannot get swords from the raid cause all of them are strength only.

Uldir in a nutshell, ladies and gents. Not sure why I even raid anymore. Guess I'll just stop once I get curve in a week or two tops.
BfA gear is hideously ugly.

They're drowning us in pets and mounts, that I stopped caring about.

Gear hast lost it's value because we get far too much of it and so much is useless. When I get something good, it feels like the game calculated it was time for me, like a great bow from first round on Arati Basin rares. I knew before I went there it would come.

I'm probably a minority, but I enjoyed the sparse legendary drops in Legion and the random epics (back then when they really were) that we used to get in random old world instances and rares pre cata. Wouldn't surprise drops of something really valuable AND good looking blow your socks off? :D

I want to be excited about gear, but I just can't anymore. I remember a time when I would get excited by every new piece of purple gear, but now I couldn't care less. Now-a-days whenever I get a new piece of gear, I check to see if it's an upgrade and either equip it or store it in my bags with all my other gear. There's no emotion there, no passion, just a load of numbers. Even getting Warforged or Titanforged items mean nothing to me, they are just slightly bigger numbers.

Anybody else feeling like this when it comes to gear? Or am I just weird?

Same, imo its because of all the scaling, both in pve and pvp.

You get bigger numbers but so do the enemy

In that case I should probably get my DH to 120 because literally all I see is versatility gear.
Hey mr blizzard entertainment game designer. You need to remove end game from artifact power !@#$e. It all should be about gear upgrades. And you also need to make use of different qualities of gears instead of all purple. Hard to get rares and even harder to get epics.

yup i always kinda wondered what the point was in green and blue items these days when you get purples thrown at you in every direction
Im the guy who tells you after ppl ripped on me begging not to take away my artifacts and legendaries....
I told you so.

MMOs with the ilvl grinding are dead. In wow we done item Grinding for 15 years now!
I was already fed up with it and went casual 5-6 years ago.

The fix is very easy though, just developers can't get out of the loopholes they made themselves...
Or they don't want to.
Red pill or Blue.
Choose.

Its because this game is getting old for you.I don't feel the joy that much nowadays.
"Your class true potential is locked behind azerite gear which all has random chance!"

"And it's the only thing that is stuck on 15 level intervals so we can control you. You want to become the stronger?! No amount of effort can force that RNG wall!"

1-110 feels like progression rewarding. New expansion is always casino, worst in this one, everyone can see the hamster wheel- the azerite gear literally has the wheel!

yup in this sense the legion weapon system was better even if it was way overtuned..

but honestly i question why we need all these extra systems at all to begin with.. everyone will see first hand when they get to play classic wow (if it is truly like vanilla).

they could of just added a couple of new class skills like when they added titan grip to fury warriors in TBC , and everyone would of been happy with that...

there is no need for these obsessive trait systems and extra talents trees hidden in weapons ... just go back to basics and the game will be great again.

I don't even know if things are an upgrade, first thing I have to do is sim it -.-

Well that's a whole different (but related) issue. It amazes me that Blizzard have managed to make the gearing process more complicated despite removing a bunch of secondary stats like hit, expertise and defense rating.
Eh, looking forward to every Marrowgar kill, aiming for that 2h axe, and when I finally got it, ecstasy.
Or doing that long !@# quest for that level 30 paladin mace in Vanilla, still my most precious piece of gear.
Hell, even getting that Artifact trait that made my Enh shaman shoot out dozens of spikes made me smile when I got it.
Today?
Oh, +5 upgrade?
Neat
/logoff
But is the doom of the rpg... When i was kid i played aD&D. at firsi you fight 5 lvls for a sword + 1. After that it began an orgy of magical armor and weapons. At 8th lvl a + 5 +10 against dragons were a crap sword.
With Wow it's the same. In Vanilla a white armor wasnt that bad. Now the purple ones for the 90% are bad.
Isnt wow... is the progression of the games...
But i agree. maybe is too much now.
Because were tightly bound to titanforged system and aim to have all items like those. When there was no titanforged we took it easier and were happy to get every part if equip. It wasnt so rare and random and it didnt settle envi between people!
And now instead of happiness if we get titanforge upgrade on what we need we just feel bitter relieve instead of happiness.
Our game devs attempt it to make challenging and fun but for real just make people struggle with literally everything. Add here lack of haste...

Although the modern WoW gearing system is bad, this doesn't have that much to do with the game itself, but more you as a player. You've grown out of it.

And for this I'm sincerely glad but I would change that a little to 'Wow has outgrown me' Bfa is an astonishing world wrapped around a terrible game.

If you play something for 14 years you start to notice it's flaws. But you can still enjoy it regardless, it will just be harder to - that's the nature of things. Wow isn't bad, but if you still play it after 14 years, you surely don't because it's a perfect game.

Just did my latest stat weights, and versatility is my highest stat for single target, even higher than agility. I died a little inside when I saw that.
