Disc priest shield changes in 8.1

Power Word: Shield Shields an ally for 15 sec, absorbing [Spell power * 1.54 * (1 + Versatility) * 1 * 1] damage. and preventing damage from delaying spellcasting.You cannot shield the target again for 6 sec.

They say pws will have cooldown 6 seconds. This is huge nerf for PVP, without shielding itself disc will not be able to survive under melee train in arena.
Disc has no escape mechanics, the only way to survive is to spam shields and penace on the move.
This nerf is way overboard and could rip the whole spec in pvp to the current state of holy priest.
Disc should be able to spam shield at least on itself without CD, overwise give us clarity of the will back.
Dunno about PvP but it will make disc trash for m+. Very often I had to spam Rupture'd PWS on tank (heavy overpulls, missed interrupt here and there), SM is too weak, PS has too long CD, barrier is fine when there's no movement.
For past few weeks I've been running alt monk, looks like I'm changing mains.

Honestly I don't think these changes are gonna be that bad. If anything being able to spam shield let into going oom way too fast from spam shielding.

The biggest nerf that disc received recently was the focused will nerf which made us even more susceptible to getting trained into the ground by melees.
Oh Im so sad now disc have to use his brain to not die.. :(
I'm pretty sure that disc will end up being extremely underpowered due to the sequence of how the changes are handled.

Overtuned classes like DH and rogues are already a !@#$% to deal with. People don't realise that it's not disc priests who are way over the average, but their own speccs which are way below thanks to bfa balancing.

So first priests get nerfed, then everyone else will certainly also get buffed more, which will create a stupid gap in the end.
It will not have 6 sec cooldown. It will not allow you to shield the same target for 6 sec

So basically weakened soul is back.

I don't think it is a bad change tbh. However they need to buff shield to compensate, I am missing big dick shields even if it meant increasing the mana cost and spell power.

Also.. For the sake of M+ please make Rapture bypass this.

Litterally a non-issue, since you should not spam shields in raids/dungeons but rather atonement-heal. If anything this will be force players to not play incorrectly and use atonement the way its supposed to work.

I could however see how some problems occur in areans. It worked the same way in legion as it would with the new changes but we had bigger shields back then. But imo this should really be a non-issue.

Won't make any difference for your gameplay.
It's just blizzard logic isn't it.

Disc priests are performing pretty well. Looks like they're doing a fair amount of consistent damage for a healer.

Let's nerf their healing.
If shields are no longer spammeble they should make them absorb more imo.
1.5sec gcd = 4 shields in 6 seconds.
Now 1 shield effectively gets 6 sec cooldown on same target.
Double the absorb then at least.

agreed, whole healing is based on shields
in arena druid has bear form/leaps
shaman has great totems
monk has incredible high healing and speed
paladins > bubble
remove shields from priests and its the easiest target to kill
Well to be honest, Rapture bypass the weakened soul debuff. However being the easiest to train healer in the game sort of have it's hard points and this don't really help the issues. But it don't really affect pve at all, spaming shields on same target are only a thing you do during rapture anyways.

It's a bit more worrysome that the base mana costs increased, since disc atm are a very mana hungry spec. to even get up on those "imba" levels of healing you see on mythic logs aka. having 12-15 attonements rolling during AoE segments.

You forgot about holy paladins, yes, they are exist somehow.
Disc would end up being ok, not the best but...ok.
not a fan of these changes for m+.

i just dont like the idea of nerfing a spec all around just because they were overpowered in pvp. or the other way around.

Also the recent mana regain nerf to all healers, because x/y spec were so overpowered so everybody else has to suffer now. Not smart.

This is similar to the mess shadow went through with 7.1 nerfs all because of how everything scaled with voidform and some people ran surrender to madness to stack more vf, scale higher and did all the top 5 raids dps combined.... nerfs were in and all over the place and the funny part is no one touched surrender after that so it remained garbage for shadow until late 7.2.
