Zandalari & Kul Tiran Allied Race Update

General
We’ve discovered two errors in our original communications regarding which classes would be available to the Kul Tiran and Zandalari Allied Races. We’re in the process of updating those communications now, but wanted to call your attention to two important corrections:

  • Warlock was incorrectly listed as an available option for Zandalari at the What’s Next panel at BlizzCon. The Zandalari have no connection to fel magic, and will not be able to be Warlocks.
  • Mage was incorrectly omitted as an available option for Kul Tirans in the panel and on the World of Warcraft website. While Kul Tiran Mages are relatively uncommon, there are a few prominent examples, and so Kul Tiran characters will be allowed to play as Mage.

We apologize for the confusion that these errors have caused.
Can you guys clarify will Kul Tirans have regular body option?
Could you look into Kul Tiran Paladins as well, considering kul tiras could employ paladins in previous warcraft games, as well as had a paladin in Scarlet Crusade.

Edit : To clarify, both in Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3 (Rexxar campaign) we see nation of Kul Tiras employing paladins in their service frequently.
Zandalari have no connection to fel magic, but they very much have strong connection to shadow magic and cursing/hexing is part of troll race fantasy. Zandalari should have access to affliction warlocks.

Denying them the opportunity to roll that class would be compareable to not letting lightforged draenei to be priest, because they have no connection to void magic.

Besides, this one: https://wow.gamepedia.com/Demoniac

aaaand there's poster zandalari warlock in newest hearthstone expansion.
So, out of all the new allied races, horde can only choose Nightborne if they wish to become a warlock?!! Not cool Blizzard, and not fair!

  • I don't really care that much since I have zero interest in any other warlock than my undead one, but this is just seems plain wrong.

There are Zandalari Demoniacs, even IF you want to claim they're not a 1-1 parallel of warlocks, saying Zandalari have no connection to fel magic makes no sense.

I'm not sure if this is a pointless retcon or an attempt to rationalise a design choice made to have numerical class parity, but it certainly doesn't seem to mesh with previously established lore, which I would have hoped would be the priority when it came to allied races.
The kul tirans does not worship the holy light.
    Yay!
Was not expecting KT mage at all, even though I really wanted them to be mages.

Really thinking of scrapping my priest And warrior now
Considering the Zandalari's allegiance to Mogu and the respective relations to the Pandaren, how can they become monks?
Can we trade Diablo Immortal for Zandalari Warlocks? Thanks in advance.

Glad I didn't pay for a virtual ticket this year. Absolute dumpster fire.

Zandalari Warlocks have been called Demoniacs since Vanilla WoW, and their way of operating is quite different from the Warlocks we're used to seeing. Their knowledge of Demonology allows them to possess Demons, using their power to fortify themselves and their spells.

Zandalari have come across fel magic and Warlocks ALSO use shadow magic...or Zandalari haven't been in contact with shadow either?

Also, if Blizzard is trying to tell us Zandalari have no ties to warlocks then why do they recurrently place characters such as Zandalari Spiritweavers, with full Warlock abilities as well as go as far as to include a named Zandalari Warlock NPC in Vol'dun called Za'roco the Grifter? Why use a Warlock and not a Monk NPC then, since Zandalari can apparently be monks despite no Lore to justify their existence unlike Warlocks?

Saying Zandalari haven't come in contact with Fel magics and Warlocks is objectively a lie and the poorest possible excuse not to include the class. Very disappointed.
    https://www.wowhead.com/npc=136601/zaroco-the-grifter explain this.
    https://wow.gamepedia.com/Demoniac and this.
And explain how Zandalari will be monks if Pandaren people LOATHES them.
So Zandalari locks, who have a basis in the lore, are not okay...

...but Zandalari monks, who basically shouldn't exist as pandaren despise the Zandalari, are a thing?

How does Blizzard know their own game so damn !@#$ing badly?

I've never been so excited to let my sub run out. In between the way they %^-*ed up the Nightborne playable race model and robbing us of Zandalari warlocks, I know there are many better ways to spend my money than on this mess of a game.

WoW should die the peaceful death it deserves already. The sooner the world can forget what it has become, the better.

Warlock was incorrectly listed as an available option for Zandalari at the What’s Next panel at BlizzCon. The Zandalari have no connection to fel magic, and will not be able to be Warlocks.

However certain Zandalari do have "connections" to being something akin to being a Warlock, as mentioned by many others in this thread, their connection is through Demonicas although it's more in-tune with how Demon Hunters use Fel; Warlocks would still be a more suitable class, because of the Affliction Specialisation, as it can be also tied to Voodoo (Dark Magic) typically used by Witch Doctors, Hexxers and Shadow Hunters.

An off note: The (Green) Fel Fire questline comes from a heavy Zandalari/Mogu Content Patch (5.2 which included mostly Mogu/Zandalari rares as you should know).

There are many people, including myself, who were planning on playing a Zandalari Warlock and it's a disappointing notion. I hope this unwanted decision is changed in the near future as this current decision seems to be needless to put it simply as is.

    Just roll a Stormwind human?
Things WRONG with the new classes/races combo due to HORDE bias (developers playing horde )

    1) zandalari paladins - loa rezan is dead, no more prelates, ''no more paladins''
    2) zandalari monks- zandalari trolls masacred and enslaved the pandaren, even the tushui should leave the horde for this, not teach them monk stuff
    3) kul tiran paladins not available when in wc3 they had paladins, its a human faction it should have paladin
    4) all this will be ignored as horde QQs and gets everything(warlock zandalari) whereas alliance gets fat humans and horses and gets <poop> on by blizzard
    https://wow.gamepedia.com/Demoniac
    Try again, guys.

It's only akin to Demon Hunters in that they let the demon inside them rather than enslaving it as a pet - I'm pretty sure demoniacs have still always been represented as casters, nothing akin to laser-eyebeam melee monsters with wings.

It's closest analogue is a warlock with a sacrificed pet.

Regardless - the most obnoxious thing is trying to say Zandalari have NO connection to the fel, which is just patently false or a pointless retcon.

Funny. Apparently wanting to play a druid and shaman in regular human form is too much to ask, right? considering allied races are all about customization, more options to choose from.

Tell that to Death Knight and Demon Hunter

  • They not only fit lorewise to be Warlock thanks to Demoniac's but they even could be a Demon Hunter considering that both are similar and DH is sealing a demon in their bodies just like Demoniac. They make more sense than Paladin if you dont bring Rezan back... Or Shirvallah.
