I need more meaningful rewards to pursue!

General
I have come to struggle with this. I am curious to hear how other people approach this.

This is my character:

In my opinion it is perfect in all ways.

I consider the Swift Spectral Tiger to be the coolest mount in the game.
I consider the Spectral Cub Battle Pet to be the natural companion pet.
I consider the Tier 3 transmogrification to be the coolest Priest transmog.
I consider the Benediction staff to be the coolest Priest weapon transmog.
I consider the Insane title to be the coolest if you're a Void Elf.
I consider the Tabard of the Void to be the coolest if you're a Void Elf.
I consider the Epic Purple Shirt to be the coolest shirt in the game.

So what is left to pursue in the game?

None of the new mounts are of interest to me, because they aren't cooler than my Swift Spectral Tiger.
And what transmogrification sets can possibly hope to beat my Tier 3 + Benediction combo?

I still enjoy playing the game very much, but I really miss the feeling of wanting something that I don't have. Something meaningful to pursue.

How does everyone else approach this?

If you have hundreds of mounts, what makes you excited for new ones?
If you have a favorite transmogrification, what makes you thrilled about collecting yet another one?
i been saying for weeks the lack of meaningful content will kill this game only to get shot down every time .. people just don't like reality i think :)

how i approached it is i stop playing until something interesting happens.

Can already tell my sense of style is waaaaay different. I just find your transmog very ugly, no offence: bland armor + staff that was made in MS paint. The mount is alright.

Back to the topic, tho. At this point it looks like this:
Create a character > Lvl up to 120 > collect proper transmog for every specialisation > do some bgs > get bored and reroll > repeat.
I agree that there's not much to do, tbh. If you're not in a guild and actively raiding, there's not much you can and you're pretty much screwed.

Unbalanced classes and lack of content just make it worse.
Well at the end of the day you work towards something, whatever that might be. If your current setup is what you’ve been wanting for a long time then i suppose you reached your goal :)
And even if they were to release a new tmog set, you just mentioned that you consider your current setup perfect so how exactly do you want to top that ?

Edit: To answer your question ~ I want all mounts in the game so it’s going to take me ages to get that.
And i also want every tmog set available for my classes so that keeps me hooked :D

I don't consider that an option. I very much still enjoy playing the game. I find the daily activities fun, the lore engaging, the story exciting, and so on.

I just lack the carrot-on-a-stick when I do the various game activities. There are lots of rewards in the game, I just don't care about any of them.

I notice that many other people stick with a certain transmogrification and have a favorite mount and so on. So I can't be completely alone in this conundrum :P

None taken! Taste is subjective :)

But that stems from a desire to collect for the sake of collecting, yeah? But if you did get that 100% completed, then you'd consider yourself done, right?....Then what?

the problem is reaching that goal , it happens in all games honestly you just get to a point where you feel like you have obtained what you wanted to obtain in the game and it's hard to move past that point , most people would just move onto another game and make new goals .. but there is a few people who try struggle on in pursuit of a new goal .. maybe the problem is setting the bar too high to start with , maybe if the bar was set lower and the transmogs you aimed for were less exciting you would of felt a more meaningful progression to your current point.
Its kinda pointless to play now, 1 hour/ day is more than enough for BFA. They were lazy on every aspect of this expansion (except the World design) they even removed the class specific sets. The gold economy is absolutely destroyed too so gold farming is out of question too. But they they still have about 1 million player out of the 4 mill at start!
People have different objectives or goals to pursue in game and there is plenty of them.

Your seem to be fluff things that make no difference to the character power whiles other pursue gear, content or even just RP.

There is plenty to keep people interested.

Not sure. At least within Blizzard's other games I always feel I have a carrot ahead of me.

Take Heroes of the Storm. Blizzard adds new heroes all the time, so there's always a new carrot to chase.

"Uuh, I have to get Mephisto and the coolest skins for him!"
"Oh, they just released Mal'ganis! I need to get him and the announcer too!"
"Oh and there's Orphea coming soon. I will definitely need the voice lines for her!"

Because you play on an account-wide level, it feels as if there's a lot more breath to the things you're interested in.

But WoW is very focused on your main character(s). It's not like Blizzard releases new classes or races very often, so it feels like the rewards you pursue are very finite, unless you jump into that completionism playstyle of wanting every mount or pet or whatever.

I don't know, rambling a bit, but it annoys me :P
just a personal example for me i never set the bar high honestly .. i don't collect mounts or pets i haven't collect much transmogs so it leave pleanty for me to work for.

everything i got so far was just through playing the game as i enjoyed it .. one day i will most likely comeback and start collecting and when i do i have years of content to enjoy doing ..

but for someone who isn't currently looking for that content there isn't much in the game to keep my interest peaked :)

i always wanted that murloc costume from blizzcon 2007 personally , but i got to live with the fact i would never own it.. it is literally the only item in the game i can honestly say i want :P

EDIT: i also enjoy farming new characters on HotS personally ;)

All things come to an end so at some point you're going to be "done" one way or the other :p But they will keep adding new mounts and Tmog sets so even if it's not much, you still have something to do whenever they release new stuff
Take all that cool stuff and go play some rated pvp, where each game is different from the previous and where you can pursuit a lot of goals. Assuming that you have not did it yet, ofc.

How does everyone else approach this?

I always think about an archetype from the rpg pov. Using my current character that is WIP: a gnome mech rider.

-first I decide the class that best fits the theme with essential transmog, in this case a combat rogue for access to the new wrench maces.
-next I finish the transmog in the modelviewer (got lucky with the gnome heritage armor, it fits the theme like a glove, can't wait!)
-look up what mounts fit the theme, start farming them if I'm still missing them
-start leveling the character and try to reach the point where I can make a theme fitting place-holder transmog and focus on doing quests that fit the character while leveling
-roleplay the character in my head (= not with other players, just immerse in the character)
-keep doing this until I finish the character and I've had enough fun with it, move on to the next

Another favorite of mine that I often go back to is my human falconer (surv hunter, with a falcon pet) that was made to hunt horde in war mode. Still working on getting the Orc Slayer title for that one. I also suck at pvp so he is not very good at his job.

That's basically what keeps me still going after things in this game. Obviously doesn't work so well if you want to stay on one character only, though you could always think of interesting ways to play them around a theme.
The add on All the Things will show you what there is left to do. Might be fun if you're the completionist type. I doubt anyone has collected and completed everything there is. Each new zone you go to will show what you haven't done yet.

Myself I do something similar to Thedice when I get bored, create a new character and imagine what she is like in personality, interests and skills. Collect items that suit her. I roleplay not only in my head but with players, though not on a very serious lvl making up a full backstory, always staying in character etc. Bit too ambitions for me.

Like this one, a foreigner literally being from another planet. Made her my forum char because of my staggering English. :) Later I found out her name wasn't the best choice, it means "someone who speaks well" in latin so let's hope I can live up to that one day :D

So op you have got this lovely alliance priest. Maybe do the opposite?

Create an undead rogue, make him (yes, make a male) really evil rotten looking with the tongue hanging out. Make up a story of why you hate priests.
Then start working on your own little private achievement The Priestslayer. Do bg and focus on priests, count every kill.

Or the perfect bulldozer tank, that fearlessly charges in to battle. Sweaty, dirty and full of battlescars. Low res armour, as crappy as possible. A Mag'har Orc maybe?

The add on All the Things will show you

... fear in a handful of dust.

All the Things is scary!

But yes, more has been pruned from the game than just abilities. Professions used to be something you could work on in your down time. There was always an opportunity to better your character in some way.

Like you, I pick one transmog per character, one mount per character (or maybe one ground, one flying). Then I get it, and that's it for the cosmetics. Blizzard have been adding a lot of cosmetics over the last three expansions, but those are completely wasted on those of us who don't switch often.

Priest Tier 6 with Anathema is the best priest combo. Regardless of spec.
The rest I agree with :)
Alts!

I have so many alt goals I don’t even know what my main is.

I burn out too quickly if I focus on one character too much, which is what happened to me in Legion
Well... Thats all your opinions, but only yours. I myself dont like T3 on any class its just old and ugly the pixels on it are killing me, but its a symbol of power since most of it comes from BMAH. I mean I can tell you my opinion, I dont like your transmog nor that weapon, will that give you motivation to farm something else? If not then perhaps you should take a break? Im not telling you to, but if the game is not fun to you anymore, and you have nothing to do then a break is always great. I myself do that always, as soon I get bored and run out of things to do, Im out.

I do have alts, one of each class, and I approach them in a similar way. And I'm pretty happy with them all-around.

There are a few areas where I compromise. I don't have Invincible for my Death Knight, but the Deathcharger's Reins do nicely, so it's all good. I don't feel compelled to run a million Icecrown Citadel runs just for that.

And then there are some other areas, like I'm looking forward to the new Nightsaber mounts in 8.1 for my Night Elf Demon Hunter.

But still, it's not much, and it feels like scraping the bottom of the barrel. And for the most part I'm quite fixated on just playing my main character.

I wish there was a new type of reward that I didn't already own hundreds of.
