ERROR #134 (0x85100086) Fatal condition!

Technical Support
Hey folks, hoping you can help me out!

I haven't played for a while but was looking to make my triumphant return this weekend. Unfortunately every time I try and get into the game (it happens after log-in, but can't get to realm selection or character selection screens,) I get the above error happening.

Is there a quick fix I could try before I go installing the entire game again?

I have tried the following to no avail;
1)Ran the the launcher as admin.
2)Ran the repair tool as admin.
3)Ran the 32bit client as admin.

(Should add, all the above were done numerous times with Norton turned both on and off.)

Can't seem to include the error log here as it "badly exceeds 5000 characters"! Linky below.

Thanks in advance.
Hello,

A game file appears to be corrupt, unfortunately the error message doesn't seem to be pointing out exactly which file is the culprit.

Can you try going to your World of Warcraft / Data folder, and in here remove the wow-update-base-16357.MPQ file, then run the game again and see what happens?

If you get another crash after that, can you post the text of that too?
I'd like to make a slight alteration to the above.

Do this;

If that doesn't help, delete your Updates folder, then try again.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have tried both of your suggestions, but still nothing. Link to the text http://dl.dropbox.com/u/40250345/latest%20error2.txt
Let's try this, then;
  • Go to your World of Warcraft folder.
  • Delete the Cache directory.
  • Open your Data folder.
  • Delete the Cache folder.
  • That seems to have done the trick! Thanks very much Doomsinger.
    Heh, sometimes it's the simple things.

    Don't hesitate to give us a poke if it returns; there's lots more we can do, should the need arise.
    Weee, we get Ferr back :)
    Thanks Doomsinger! You got us our Ferr back!
    I'll always try my hardest to return your Ferr.

    And if I ever do fail, I'll replace him with a brand new Ferrari. :)
    Hello !

    I have same problem but dont know how i delete cache directory... in my cache folder there is 3 folders:

    -ADB
    -WDB
    -wowbrowser

    So.. wich 1 do i delete ?

    pls help me

    Thanks
    Hi Lazerchicken,

    Could you please post the error log you're getting? It'll most likely say a different file is affected, so the same steps posted above may not apply to the issue you're experiencing.
    It says:

    This application has encountered a critical error:

    ERROR#134 (0x85100086) Fatal condition!
    Program: C:/World Of Warcraft/Wow.exe
    Process ID 2320

    Memory corrupted

    Press ok to terminate the application

    -----OK-----
    That's the full text? In the Errors folder in the World of Warcraft directory, that's all it says there too in the text files?
    HI! Could you please figure out what might be the problem here ? Can't even get to login. The error appears once I click the wow.exe

    The error appears once I click the wow.exe

    Are you launching directly from Wow.exe or the launcher first? You should be loading the launcher, not the wow.exe file.
    He is launching directly from Wow.exe . He has tried the launcher, but then it just gets stuck on "checking for updates" .. :s
    The thing is , he ALSO has a problem updating on his own computer. So whenever it's up to date, he will copy WOW from me after I updated it. That is why he has to run wow.exe, but now this problem appeared, and he can no longer start up the game without your help
    The problem does seem to stem from not being able to run the Launcher. Can you try removing the Updates folder found in the World of Warcraft directory, then try again?

    I'd also recommend checking any security software you may have installed. It may be a good idea to temporarily try removing it, then see if the game works, then reinstall your security software.
    That worked, to delete the Updates folder. I can now run the WoW Launcher. However, I get stuck on "initializing". It seems I cannot download updates from any blizzard games.
