- Won an arena but didn't get a strongbox
- Completed a random BG but did not receive a strongbox
You will always earn a Steel Strongbox for completing a random battleground or brawl, even if your team loses. When you get a strongbox, you have a 20% chance to also receive a Gold Strongbox. While all strongboxes contain artifact power, gold, honor, and conquest, Gold Strongboxes have an additional chance to contain Marks of Honor, consumables, and profession materials.
After a change in Patch 8.1, strongboxes are not physically awarded to the inventory. Instead, when you earn a strongbox, it opens automatically and the rewards are pushed to your character.
