Common Problems

I can't download the game.

If you experience problems with the Blizzard Downloader such as error messages or stalled installation progress, follow the steps for your operating system below.

Windows

  1. Run the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App in Administrator Mode to address many installation, patching, networking, and start-up errors.
  2. If you're using a wireless connection, optimize your internet connection to rule out a connection issue.
  3. Try closing background applications to resolve any software conflicts.
  4. Disable or temporarily uninstall any security programs, which may mistakenly identify the login module as a security threat.
  5. Update your drivers to resolve any compatibility issues.
Advanced Troubleshooting
  1. Disable any proxies that may interfere with the login module.
  2. Check your network configuration to find any issues with your firewall, router, or port settings.
  3. Try installing in safe mode (Windows 7) (Windows 8) (Windows 10) (OS X/macOS) to resolve any potential issues with Windows or third party processes.
  4. Run a security scan to remove any viruses or malware infections.
  5. Try adjusting some of your network card options to resolve any network related issues.

Mac

  1. Make sure to use the Archive Utility, not a third party tool, to extract the installer.
  2. Run the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App in Administrator Mode to address many installation, patching, networking, and start-up errors.

  5. Repair Disk Permissions to resolve any permission conflicts with logon modules.
