Common Problems

  • How do I prevent my World of Warcraft character from leveling?
  • I turned off my experience, how do I start leveling again?

To turn your character's experience gain on and off, visit the Experience Eliminator at your faction's capital city:

  • If you are Alliance, speak to Behsten in Stormwind
  • If you are Horde, speak to Slahtz in Orgrimmar

Using this service costs 10 gold.

Note: Experience gains cannot be disabled on Starter and Inactive accounts, or in WoW Classic and Burning Crusade Classic.

We have received reports that some characters cannot re-enable experience gains after patch 9.0.2 due to no longer having the Experience Eliminated buff. In order to fix this, we recommend having the character enter any battleground or dungeon (such as Ragefire Chasm in Orgrimmar or The Stockade in Stormwind) which will re-apply the buff. You can then return to Behsten / Slahtz and re-enable experience gains.
