Authenticators are an excellent way to add an additional level of security to your Battle.net account, preventing unauthorized access. For more information, check out our Battle.net Authenticator FAQ and our Battle.net Mobile Authenticator FAQ.

When using a Battle.net Authenticator or Mobile Authenticator, we strongly recommend registering for Battle.net SMS Protect. This free service will allow you to easily remove your Battle.net Authenticator using text message verification (SMS). For more information, see the Battle.net SMS Protect FAQ or login directly to the SMS Protect signup page.

Choose an Authenticator

Follow these instructions to add an authenticator to your Battle.net account.

  1. Log into your Battle.net account
  2. On the Account page, click Security. You'll see two options: Battle.net Authenticator and Mobile Authenticator. Click the option that suits your security choice.

Adding a Token Battle.net Authenticator

  1. Under Battle.net Authenticator click Attach Authenticator.
  2. Click Send Verification E-Mail. A confirmation email will be sent to the registered email address for the account. You will be required to click the link provided in this email to continue to the next step.
  3. Follow the link from the email and type in the 10-digit serial number located on the back of the authenticator. You will also need to type in an authenticator code.
  4. Press the button on the authenticator to generate a new code and type it in the Authenticator Code field.
  5. Click Add Authenticator to complete the process. Once completed, this authenticator will be required to log into your Battle.net account and Account Management.

Adding a Battle.net Mobile Authenticator

  1. Under Battle.net Mobile Authenticator, click Attach Authenticator
  2. Click Send Verification E-Mail. A confirmation email will be sent to the registered email address for the account. You will be required to click the link provided in this email to continue to the next step.
  3. Follow the link from the email and Download the Battle.net Authenticator. After downloading the appropriate version for your mobile device, continue to the next step. If you have already installed the application, click Continue.
  4. Enter the serial number of your Battle.net Mobile Authenticator. You will need to provide both the 14-digit serial number and a generated Authenticator Code to continue.
  5. Click Add Authenticator to complete the process. Once this process is completed, the Mobile Authenticator will be required to log into your Battle.net account and Account Management.

    Note: In the authenticator application, navigate to Menu > Setup, select Continue and write down the authenticator's serial number and restore code. These will be necessary if you need to restore your authenticator in the future.

Removing an Authenticator

  1. Log in to Battle.net and select Manage Security Options.
  2. Select the authenticator type.
  3. Enter the information requested on the page:
    • Generate a new authenticator code and enter it into the First authenticator code field.
    • Wait approximately 30 seconds.
    • Generate another authenticator code and enter it into the Second authenticator code field.
  4. Quickly click Remove Authenticator. Your authenticator will be removed from the account and you will now be able to log in to the account without it. To reactivate, you must re-add it to the account.
