Common Problems

  • I have an unknown Battle.net Account connect to my Xbox account

If you receive the error message “Whoops Something Went Wrong”, while confirming your connection, this may mean third-party platform is already connected to another account. You will need to first disconnect the connection. Please log into that account and follow the steps here to disconnect the connection. If you are unable to remember the login information for that account, perform the following:

  1. Please log into the third-party platform Account
  2. Visit https://account.battle.net/login
  3. Click on the third-party platform Account Icon under “Log in with”
  4. This will log you into the Battle.net account associated to this platform account.
  5. Follow the disconnect instructions here.

If you receive a verification check or are otherwise unable to access the Battle.net using the steps above, your account may be connected to an older Guest account created for Overwatch. Please contact us and provide the following information.

  1. Include the GamerTag for the third-party platform.
    • Please make sure that your gametag includes the proper capitalization, as it is case sensitive.
  2. Include the Email address for the third-party platform if you can.
    • The email may have numbers and be @PROD.XBL.BATTLE.NET for Xbox.
  3. Acknowledge that you understand that by allowing Blizzard Customer Support to unlink the existing connection, you will lose all prior game progress, earned, and claimed rewards already tied to the existing battle.net account. Customer Support will not be able to recover the data or transfer it to a different battle.net account.

After we have unlinked the account, go to Battle.net Connections and click Connect for the external account you would like to link. You will then complete the flow to connect to your new external account and confirm Connection.
